I see our former injury prone defender Gary Rowett is the number two to Mr. Karren Brady at Burton Albion now.

Confirmed as manager after a spell as caretaker.

As he played alongside CP anyone fancy Burton Albion away for a pre-season game?

"Played alongside" is a bit strong - "waved at CP from the treatment room" would be nearer the mark.

Did they play together at Derby as well ?

Excellant lower league ground in a town full of character.Perfect venue for a pre season friendly.

Remember him scoring a belter away at QPR if it's the same bloke! I was right behind it.

Second that, a great town for a weekend on the ale!

Would be a nice pre season game.

Wish him all the best, liked Rowett as a player before we signed him, did well in the games he did play. Pity injury recked his career as he could have been a very good defender for us.

Four seasons together, 2 at Derby and two with CAFC.

Maybe a good place for a few of our kids to go out on loan.

But for all we know they hate each other.

Stole my jacket once at a player of the year awards

Well I accused him of it , he had just picked it up by mistake

Remember curbs saying that signing rowett would keep us up
  • Thought he looked quality for us until his body gave up on him! Good luck to him at Burton, even though they've let me down on my acca a couple of times. Grrrrrr.

All tIme most expensive player in terms of fee divided by appearances (and broken hearts in Eltham when the big summer signing turned out to be a costly crock)

i thought he came on a fee based on appearances so the fee was never as high as most thought

I thought he cost £3m plus appearances - Wiki doesn't help much there - but it does say that he made 13 appearances which is more than I thought. So just the £200k per appearance (+wages) I suppose !

No, Curbs was crap and cocked it up. Boring mid table premiership football.

At least that is what some thought. Of course canny old Curbs had a deal based on appearances gambling on a known crock like Rowett.

Good luck to him, thought he was gonna be good for us, unfortunately his knees were about as strong as my grandads.

The few times he did play he was clearly a good player though. Technically very strong. Was nice to see a central defender so comfortable on the ball.

I imagine insurance would have paid out after he retired, so we would have got some of the money back?

Ooh aah is correct. Richard Murray negotiated a fee based on appearances so we only paid a few 100k of the 3.5m total

I think as well that someone's head rolled in the medical dept due to us signing him

I understand why they can't, but from a fans perspective I wish things like this were able to be made clear. Similar situation to the Jeffers deal - it's annoying having these kind of headline figures used as examples of bad management when the reality of it was that we spent much, much less on these players than advertised.
