There is nothing for FLi to be unhappy about.

In addition to the launch video above, we've put a few other videos from the archive of CAFC Player up on the club's YouTube channel, but fans (and particularly CAFC Player subscribers) should rest assured that CAFC Player will always be the first place for supporters to find the best and latest video and audio content.

We will ensure that this remains the case because the income we receive through CAFC Player is significant to the club.

However, one of the issues I have with CAFC Player is that, the occasional free trials apart, fans have no way of assessing what's available through the service if they don't subscribe.

The content on the new YouTube channel will therefore primarily be short teasers for the CAFC Player service or features that we feel deserve a wider audience - such as part of a season-ticket promotion, for example.

It's one of the ways that we hope to improve our online service for fans and demonstrate that CAFC Player is a worthwhile investment. More are coming...

they've also fitted in the most cringing video to have ever graced CAFCplayer and the big screen at The Valley.

As much as I like having CAFC Player, I'm kinda hoping it gets a makeover. Probably me least favourite site that I regularly visit in terms of design. Signing in is rubbish too. Like the YT channel though!

Agreed Jimmy. Poor load times and having to sign in every time does annoy me, as does the lack of HD. However, for the price and the content you can't fault it.

Just makes me want the DVD ... Do the interviews... Get it sorted and get it available... I'll have one new shirt and one DVD on the plane coming to Melbourne please....

As far as I am aware, there are no such issues watching the content abroad using CAFC Player. Just another reason to sign up!

It now has a mind blowing 6 subscribers!!!!!!!!!!

Happy that the club are doing this though.

I'm a CAFC Player subscriber - is there any plans for the program to convert to html5 so that it can run on an iPad??

The Photon app (£2.99, I think) allows you to watch Flash content (which is used by the CAFC Player service) on iPads. Very handy...

The new CAFC official website will only affect the main site, not the CAFC Player subscription service because FLi thought it would be too big a job to switch 80-odd club sites AND Player sites over the same summer.

For 2012/13, the CAFC Player will therefore continue in its current form, although making the service more accessible for iPads etc would seem to me to be an essential development requirement if they want to increase subscriptions.

Thanks for the update Matt. I've tried the iSwifter app (there's a free version available) which plays Flash through a host website but its inconsistent and unreliable, I may give Photon. a try but I'm a little cynical based on experiences with iSwifter. Its not a big problem being unable to run CAFC Player on the iPad, it would just be more convenient (and more portable) if it did work, especially for the away game commentaries. I suppose Glovepup and I will just have to wait until they all convert to HTML5.

Finally I can add my support to the recommendations for a CAFC Player subscription, its well worth it and some of the less formal interviews with players and staff are very amusing.
