    Isn't the £4.6mn the extra revenue from being in a higher league? Wasn't the question as to whether there was any prize money to go with the cup? In 2007/08 it was the princely sum of £25,000. Can't imagine it's much more now.

    Couldn't find an up-to-date prize fund on the FL site. But according to the FL regs - which make quite interesting reading - by getting promoted we have to pay the league £21,333 to compensate for parachute payments made to clubs getting relegated to League 2! [Reg 10.1.2(d)] So the net income could be naff all!

    Well, I e-mailed the FL and asked. The actual prize for winning League 1 is still £25k. The runners up get £10k. For the Championship it's £50k and £25k. In comparison you get £800k for being last in the PL.
