If Benty isn't fit we are bereft of a decent striker. Welbeck? Holt? Good grief. Someone will be suggesting Heskey next.

Savage said if they take Holt they might as well not bother going. Bit harsh but I tend to agree with him. He has had a great season but he's nowhere near good enough.

Think we should give Holt a chance has had good goal rate this season besides who else should go in his place. Same for Welbeck?

A wind up right ? Holt isn't of international quality. And Welbeck is injured now anyway. I don't know who we should take but it just shows the lack of quality we have in so many areas.

What's the alternative, Carroll? Cause he's really set the world alight.

I'd rather have a team of grafters like Holt than thugs and womanisers.

It looks pretty grim, especially up front.

Indeed it does. This low expectation may work in our favour though. Or so we can hope...

ButDoesn't this just optimize why England are continual failures. We're a country with a massive interest in football and a rich league and grass roots structure yet we can only think of three goalkeepers you might contemplate picking for the euros and one of those has no caps and the other is retired... of course it is the fact we had a foreign manager which I'd why we got dicked at the last world cup.

We have a poor squad but with expectations so low for once, we might just do all right.

I think most of the people that retired from International football were because of Capello.

So expect Robinson, Foster etc to come out of retirement for the Euro's.

I'd go with more youth, it worked for Germany in the World Cup.

Ditch Terry, ditch Lampard, possibly (at a stretch) keep Gerrard. Get younger players in that actually want to play for the shirt, not older ones that "expect" to be picked.

I don't think anyone's saying you did, but maybe with Hodgson in charge he may reconsider.

    forgot about him!
  • Honestly, I don't care who goes. Lets face it, England are an average international team who, in effect are simply incapable of winning any thing due to the fact that many other countries are simply MUCH better than us. Our Players are of a very high quality (Rooney, Parker, Hart & Co), but are not as technical as other teams. How we are in the top 10 FIFA World Rankings is beyond me.

England recently beat Spain, the last World Cup Winners, albeit in a 'friendly'

I still don't think there's anything wrong with taking Holt. You could compare it to the Bent scenario at the 2006 World Cup where even though he was untested at international level he was still banging in the goals in the Prem but was he put on the plane? No.

BBC sport reporting that Rio Ferdinand set to be left out of the squad. Personally think that is the wrong choice. Would of left Terry at home. They are also reporting Kyle Walker will miss the euro's through injury. That is a huge loss in my opinion!!
