Feel a bit sorry for him really. An impossible job as the Villa fans were never going to accept him

Cue the usual calls on here for Curbs to get the job :) Dont think he would take it though

What about Lee Clark. 25 -1 shot with VC??

I don't have any sympathy for him after the way he finished up with Birmingham.

I struggle to see him getting a job in the Premiership next season. Think he might even end up being the next Blackburn manager...

Shouldn't have got the job in the first place as the fans were never going to take to him.

Martinez would be a good appointment but turned them down last season. Brendan Rodgers?

Wolves appointed a new manager a few days ago, and if Curbishley was offered the job I think he would accept it.

Dont disagree with that. Think it would be a good job for curbs. I just think if he was gonna take another prem manager's job he would have done so by now

No confirmation he has resigned yet though. I would think he will leave by mutual consent.

Martinez won't go there. He turned them down last summer and nothings changed. Expect Martinez to Liverpool if Dalglish sees sense and quits.

well done to him for resigning, would have been very easy just to dig his heels in and wait for the inevitable sacking with a decent pay off.

just not suited for the villa job

That may well be the case. Think it's safe to say he is/has left though

Think they will go after Martinez again. Curbs would do a great job but after McLeish Villa will want a "sexy football" manager and that ain't our Alan.

Martinez is the bookies favourite. Personally think he is better off staying at Wigan. Think he has the potential to become a really top class manager in the future

Yeah exactly, dont think they'll go for Curbs. Lambert is a likely candidate too.

They would possibly have accepted him had he done a bit better - agree it was a hrd job for him but the Villa's finishing position wasn't good enough.

Villa still regard themselves as a big club, despite having no money. They should take a look at Poyet.

The Birmingham link is a red herring, McLeish is damned by what's happened on the pitch. Yes, there have been injuries, and yes he's had to sell good players, but to finish with 38 points is dismal, most seasons they would have been relegated.

he has, but villa is a step up so good move for him IMO

He can't keep Wigan up every season and he'll know it so a move to a club like Villa is likely.

Villa isn't a good club at the moment though, they do seem to be going backwards...

Really ? If I was an up and coming manager I'd want either a really big job, or an up and coming club - villa are neither

    Heard that Liverpool want Martinez.

Also with McLeish, he said that there was no way he could turn the Villa job down it was such a good offer on the table. I find it hard to blame him for taking it but Villa were out of their minds employing him.

If Curbs went there it would test his ability and could be the permanent blemish on his career. On the other hand if he worked a miracle it could be his route to the England job.

Anyone going there will need to be able to work miracles.

Curbs has been out of work for several years now, I don't think he can afford to be choosy now.

Curbs is not considered current Prem material anymore because he has been away too long.

By who? Have you asked current prem owners and got that response? Seems to me Wolves offered him the job when they were a prem team, and some of the no-names who do get jobs (Steve Kean for instance) it seems more that Curbs just hasn't applied for many of the so called vacancies. I say so-called, because a lot are filled before the other guy is even out the door.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Curbs roll up at West Brom.

He has been fired, no mutual consent and certainly no resignation.

    Oh, here we go again!

"have you asked all the current Prem owners"

Yes I have, each and every one, and i'm posting the response on a fans message board.

On reflection you are probably right and he will get a job any day now, ahead of no names like Steve Bruce and Pep somethingorother.

    Sorry for expressing my opinion.

Resigned before he was dismissed ... He'll walk away with a good few quid in compensation. Villa has a lot of good young players and will do well with a better manager
