Seen The Dictator and Piranha 3DD over the last 24 hours. Cannot recommend either!!

There's some seriously messed up ideas in The Dictator, and it will be hugely popular. But it's really not very good, although nowhere near as bad as Ali G Inda House. About as hit and miss as movies come.

Piranha 3DD is... exactly what you'd expect. The long, lingering shot of a beach ball bouncing off of a large left breast was pretty funny, as was the Hoff. Worst use of 3D since Jaws 3 though.

Looking forward to Piranha, as it looks gloriously MST3K/Rifftrax-level bad. Don't think it comes out in America until August, though.

The Avengers was a blast. If I lived in London, I would be pissed that they weren't running it in IMAX 3D at the massive theatre in Central. Luckily, my local IMAX is splitting it with Dark Shadows, which is getting mediocre to terrible reviews.

Do I need to see previous marvel films for this one?

Cray, not majorly the only ones I had seen before was iron man and captain America, I guess it gave me more of an understanding but it's not vital

As a couple of people here have mentioned, the best film out atm isn't quite out just yet (3 weeks away) but is/will be `Prometheus'....

....gonna be film of the year.

No harm giving Thor a watch but you could just as easily Wikipedia it as its not really worth watching just to get up to speed with this film.

I really wanted to go see The Raid but as expected its not been showing by my local cinemas.

    Your local cinema? Sevenoaks?
  • Look out for the Sweeney and St Georges Day, both out this year, depending on how they are cut you may well catch a glimpse or two of your truly ;-)

Prometheus, yes Cray it is. It's a prequal to Scotts original Alien film from 1979.

Thought the Dictator was really, really funny. Sacha Baron Cohens best film to boot. It's far more offensive than I expected and will no doubt upset people. Additionally better than the trailers, which is unusual. 7.5/10

Thought The Dictator was good, however, Borat is better.

I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste, being quiet, very sobre, slow and a tough subject, but I thought an Austrian movie called BREATHING was absolutely brilliant.

the trailer for 'ted' was hilarious. 'dark shadows' was ok, burton has a seriously bizarre imagination

    What everyone's favourite cinema?

Completely agree. Unfortunately as he is now too well-known he will never be able to do a Borat type film again!
