The age old debate of finance versus identity.
From the club's perspective, you understand the need to maximise revenues as much as they can.
However, from a supporter perspective what you see and display on your shirt provides some degree of forming the identity of the club you support. It is about recognition, and every shirt sold is an advert for your club.
Like others, the logo and text used looks something i would expect to see on an Ebbsfleet shirt rather than a Championship one. I expect it will probably have an impact on sales.
At least its only for a year, and if the money it brings in boosts the budget to bring in that extra player, then so be it.0 -

I thought we were now ok for money with the new owners and getting extra revenue from being promoted. Why then do we have to get such a awful looking shirt, couldn't we have got a charity like Unicef? That would have probably balanced out because of all the pr/marketing that would have come with that.0

Appreciate the club will benefit in £s terms, but I have been seriously put off from buying a new shirt as a result. Think it looks pants, which is a real shame...0

This shirt had potential aswell.
Nice and plain, badge and nike tick, subtle sponsor logo.
It may be financially rewarding for the club, but it does look like one of the players dad has got his companies name printed on the front.0 -
When was the last time we had a sponsor that some people weren't "underwhelmed" by?
People have slagged off Cabrini, KRBS, Llanera, Redbus, Viglin and just about all the rest other than the Woolwich.
have a look at the other championship sponsors. Not many well known international brands there.
It's a local firm, long established, connected to the club already, it's good financially (the main thing imho) and the shirts will sell. Just like every new shirt or sponsor people hate them when they first appear and then a few weeks later when they see them in the shop or on the players' backs they will have "grown on me" and they buy one.0 -

Nothing wrong with that logo from the sponsors point of view. Because I am sad, I have noticed many times that nice cool looking sponsors logos often leave you scratching your head as to WTF they actually do. It is okay if you are an internationally recognised brand, but if the idea is to get your name out there, it fails dismally. That said, it does look like a semi-pro sponsor...0

As long as its got the charlton badge on it , I will be wearing it - sponsors shouldn't matter to people , and if you expect the players to wear the shirt with pride I'm sure they at the least expect the fans to be wearing it with pride too0

Not really the point. It's not a case of the who the brand is, more a case of how it is displayed. Of the above, i'd say only Cabrini 'looked' poor on the shirt.
People have slagged off Cabrini, KRBS, Llanera, Redbus, Viglin and just about all the rest other than the Woolwich.
And this one, in my opinion, looks poor. That's not a slight on the company in question, just that their name and logo makes the shirt look second rate.

Standard shirt, nothing out the ordinary.. Sponsor isnt great but i've seen alot worse.
Plus it's a year, it's just a fill in sponsor.. next year we have plenty of time to get a sponsor and pick a nice Nike kit.0 -

Disagree. If it was the same logo but it said Coke or Sony people would be wetting themselves over it just as they did with Nike (who have a similar logo to Andrew Sykes)
