Not many teams are playing in bespoke kits in line with their tradition and heritage these days. All the new Puma kits are of the same template (Coventry, Cardiff, Preston all basically wearing the same shirt). Adidas rarely ever do bespoke outside the Prem. Sometimes not even in the Prem (Swansea last season). Most kits these days are bland, and yes, the fact that ours is a template teamwear shirt means you could easily see the same design in the Blue Square South.
I guess we've got used to having either unique shirts or because they came from an unusual manufacturer (Quaser, Joma) virtually unique. How many of our recent shirts have been the same as somebody else's?

I see Palace have gone the other way to us, going from a generic Nike shirt to a bespoke design (made by Avec/Just Sports)

That's true. We have been fairly used to different kits. Even the home one for the last 2 years was fairly unique. I think Eastbourne and Redbridge wear the same template.

Avec/Just Sport are the company who run the Nike franchise where we are getting the kit from. We will stock Avec training wear and leisure wear, as well as some Nike branded stuff, in the revamped store.

Better looking logo and I'd like

The problem is, and a point a lot of people seem to be missing is Andrews Air Condition is shown on our new shirts as it is shown on their company web site, products and I assume company literature etc.

The whole idea of corperate sponsorship is to get the brand awareness out there so why should they change what I am assuming is a company logo of many years standing to suit the whims of Charlton fans.

If my company were sponsoring the shirts I would expect our logo to be shown exactly as it is on our company literature not tampered with to "dumb it down"

Don't disagree with that, unfortunately for us, it's an amateurish identity for a rather large and successful company. I would imagine in their business their identity has little to do with bringing customers in. However by sponsoring us they obviously are looking to increase their brand awareness to the larger public and this identity imho is massively forgettable. Or maybe they are just doing us a favour.

Isn't it very similar to one we had a few years ago? Maybe two or three kits ago?
No problem with the sponsor,Better to have a company that does some more useful than converting playstations in to heroin!
  • Dislike!

Damn you Nug!! You spoilt us with your designs and cool Nike kits and sponsors and instead we get a crappy polo shirt and sponsor. Hope next season's kit will be better.

Fair points, however I am not sure their board of directors would veiw their identity as "amateurish", they appear to have been around for a long time and sometimes certain things in business are best left untouched. If this was the company logo they started out with many years ago why should they change it now, or allow it to be tampered with to suit a football shirt.

will it not say "heat for hire" on the away kit?

i wont be buying it for my brothers as its a only one year deal!

I much prefer the macron KRBS kit but im not that bothered - as long as they play well in it!

Palace still have the same style of online store we'll have in a couple of weeks

    http://www.justsport-shop.com/cgi-bin/live/ecommerce.pl?site=cpfc_clubshop&state=page&page=splash&menu=menu&suppress_header=yes
It's notable how they emphasise the bespoke nature of their new kit, it seems to be the option at our level, if you want Nike/Adidas on your shirt, take what's available, if you want bespoke kit go with someone smaller (or one of their offshoots)

Nug, your logo looks a lot better than the current one for AAC, you should sell it to them for £500!

The 'krbs' from the last couple of years didn't look amateurish?

I love the fact that in 2012 when marketing spends are drastically cut all across the world that a local company are willing to invest in the club we love......surely this is the main story here?

although, couldn't give a crap really. I'm sure the club got the best deal from what was on the table for them to choose from (if they had a choice)
if you looked down the list of championship/league one sponsors I'd guess you'd not want more than half of them for one reason or another. in a few months it won't even be noticed or mentioned. Up the ice cool Addicks.
  • Andrews Air Conditioning?? Is this for real? What a joke.
i think its a breath of fresh air....................i'll get my coat!!

I suspect it will sell well because it has the Nike logo on it. It isn't too loud which might mean it will look better with jeans - so whilst it is a bit unimaginative- I think it is quite a sfae design for the club.

As always, I'll reserve my judgement until I see it in the flesh. However, my old Joma/Cabrini shirt does need replacing, so I'll probably get this

As I always say about home kits, they should be simple and traditional, and this fits the bill.

As for the away kit, I prefer it to always be white, but there's where you can be different.

Like Shirt, dislike sponsor logo .. does it matter .. no. Someone was happy to stomp up cash for our shirts ... those clubs struggling to get sponsors are the ones who are laughing stocks if anyone is.

No pic of the away kit yet but they said it's exactly the same as the home but black. It's strange we've never gone back to Yellow, that seemed popular.

Andrews Air Conditioning is fine on the shirt but I would rather it isn't on any leisure wear like Nike Polos. Being Just Sport rather than bespoke, it probably won't be on leisure wear. Obviously it will be on training wear

Jeeez some of you need to wake up and look at the other Nike kits on offer.... we could have ended up with the checkerboard/tea-towel design that Manure have got....or we could even have gone with the mighty sports kit manufacturer 'warrior' as Liverpool have. We have a nice plain shirt, with no stupid designs woven into it, no gimmicky marketing...I think its quality, and I'll be buying one for myself and my boy.. althought he'll probably want the whole kit... and the away kit, and the 'keepers shirt as well :o)

Leyton Orient's new Nike kit looks really Sunday League, except that it's combined with Champions League level sponsors!

Sorry but that's a nice looking shirt even without the sponsor.

I wouldn't mind the away shirt. but I'd have to say no to white sleeves.

The sponsors, however, are much nicer to have on your chest than what we have. I guess it's down to the money involved. I can't believe those two companies would rather have Orient than Charlton, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

How cool would our shirt look with Samsung or FIFA 13 on the front?
  • Swindon have that pair of sponsors too. I find it a bit bizarre.

As for our kit... hmmmmm, I think it's OK. I don't like overdesigned kits, but if anything ours is a little too underdesigned. I hope the cut is better than it looks in all the preview photos.
