The second game of group A promises to be a fiery affair, in which Poland take on a very impressive Russia side in this eastern European derby. Poland will be looking to improve after a draw against Greece, while Russia will be looking to carry on their impressive form from the last game. The match also falls on national Russia day (a national holiday in Russia), where the Russians are planning to march from the city centre to the stadium, potential trouble? But I digress.
Tactics
Poland:
With Arsenal’s Szczesny banned for the game, Tyton will replace him. The Poles will adopt their usual 4-3-2-1 Formation, which is intended to make it harder for teams to break them down. They will be looking to get it out to their two wide men Piszczek and Blaszczkoyski, and hope to provide for the impressive looking Lewandowski.
Russia:
The Russian will continue to play a fast paced passing game. The only change the Russian manager may consideris to replace Kerzhakov after a poor performance in front of goal, with Pavlyunchenko up top, after an impressive display by Pavlyunchenko when he came on as sub.

Prediction:
3-1 Russia
It was a strange match between Russia and Czech Republic, with both teams looking bright in possession although Advocaat’s men proved to have a real cutting edge in attack thanks to the three front men of Kerzhakov, Arshavin and Dzagoev.
It’s easy to be critical of Kerzhakov who was wasteful in front of goal, although the manager will have been pleased with his interchange and the Russians look a great pick to beat a Poland side that looked poor in their opening match.
After a vibrant 20 minutes, the co-hosts really stuttered and the ten men of Greece dominated in the second half and should have won the game.
For these reasons I predict a comfortable Russian win, but expect the Poles to make it difficult for them in the early stages.
