Beat me to it! Great player to have leading the line at a wet tuesday evening away day when you needed a bit of a bully

For me, it has been and always will be Carl Leaburn! Absolutely adored the bloke. Totally agree with John Robinson and Steve Brown, diehards the pair.

Anyone for Simon Webster or Shaun Newton?

For the record, Richard Rufus goes waaay beyond 'cult hero'.

Maybe I am going back too far with thoughts of Bert "Sailor" Brown, Don Walsh and Stuart Leary who played great games along with the Firmani brothers Eddie and Peter. Having been fortunate enough to see the great 7-6 Huddersfield game I will always remember the late great John Summers. My personal idol as a goal keeper was the great Sam Bartram. Another stalwart of the club was Brian Kinsey.

Dennis, Selwyn, Vince, Paul Ellis, Paul from Portsmouth, Steve Dixon, Man in Black, Aylesbury Charlton.

On the playing side....I would say Chris Solly.

PS: Is that Micky Quinn in the background of the Aizlewood picture?

.....oh, and you gotta have "Big Fat" Peter Garland; probably the least fit footballer I've seen pull on the famous Red shirt!

Must not spread this net too wide. CULT hero. Shirtliff ( for good reason ) Hales - Peacock - Bartram - Mendonca - Rufus - Bonds - Lee -Warman -Parker -Flanagan.
Actually, that's a bloody good team if Billy is happy to go back to right back.

If you are talking about cult heroes then let's get the meaning of the term right!

When we talk about a cult hero we are talking about someone who achieves hero status for unusual or unconventional reasons, which rules out 99% of names mentioned on this thread.

For CAFC there is only one genuine cult hero in our modern history, that is Carl Leaburn who was beloved by the fans despite the fact that he was a striker who had an appalling goal scoring record.

Despite his record of just 53 goals in 344 games we loved him anyway for how whole hearted effort and occasional brilliance.
