if a new striker is being signed as back up to iwomlu, varney & co, could it be darren byfield?
today he was missing from the millwall team photo-shoot.
although he is 31, he has a goal scoring record as good as varneys (also in the lower leagues) over a longer period.
may not be everyone's first choice, but personally if he plays all year for our reserves, that's stopping him from scoring goals for millwall.

    I thought about that yesterday.

Would be an easy deal, he wants out, and has just had a training ground bust up, getting smacked by another player.

I'm looking for us to sign still what will be our best striker, not a back up though...
  • How many back-up reserve strikers do we need?
  • if it is i'll actually cry

i'm still not convinced we need a back-up striker, with marcus' attitude, the gambles on todorov and dickson, iwelumo and varney injured i think we need a striker full stop

Westside will be pleased if Jamelia starts attending games!!!

They must live locally - her daughter goes to Farringtons in Chislehurst.
  • I thought he wanted a move back to the Midlands?

Would rather have Jamelia warming the crowd up than that bloody opera singer.

I quite like the opera bloke, but he needs to expand his repertoire somewhat!

He's an idle twat who has made a career out of moving from mediocrity to mediocrity. Wouldn't even be any worth as a reserve as he has an attitude problem.

  • I'm gonna throw the name Kluivert back in the ring. Infinitely better than Byfield.

Whoever it is, I think that Pards was a bit naive by saying that we would have two players by the weekend - I don't know why managers ever bother with comments like that because it never turns out how they say it will!

Pards said he was 'Hopeful' not that they were signed sealed and delivered

i'd rather Jeffers over Byfield and that says a lot! maybe we could work a deal for Vassell, who apparently wants out. I'd rather a Maynard or McLeod but Pards seems to be looking for experience.

Looks like Paul Dickov is being released by Man City. I reckon he could do a job for us at CCC level.

Dickov is a nasty bit of work.... he can join our 'thug club' - McCarthy & Thatcher.
Just what we need with our soft boys. ;-)

I saw that and he might do ok but i just hate his whole character and would be gutted to see him sign. He's in a totally different bracket to a player like Weaver who was a panto bad guy, whereas Dickov is just a nasty little shit. Having said that Pards will probably love him.

p.s. cheers for the Valley reports on Saturday.
  • Can we stop the Dickov rumours please.

Probably one of my top most 3 hated players ever. Never forgiven him for his theatrics at Maine Road in 95.

We sign him and im watching Sarfend next season :)

I personally think one of the new supposed signings is ZZ as he doubles up as a Striker/Midfielder as & when required in each role. No prem takers so far & he has played for us already. Think we are just getting wrapped up in Red Tape at the Far east end.

The ZZ thing I know is something Pards has been trying to Nail down all summer. The fact that he will be a loaner again (Minimal cost) Pards knows him & likes him, plus he can play both position we are short in & the fact he has signed for no one else yet. Just an educated guess, but a good one. :-)

cannot understand any interest in Dickov. Aside from i'm being a horrible little... he primarily plays with his back to goal. We already have Ilewumo, Bent who play that way and to a certain extent, Todorov. If Pards doesn't think Dickson is up to Championship standard, then another striker who can play on the shoulder and get behind the last man is a must, because we only have Varney who can do that.

I would like to see ZZ back. I thought we had an option to buy (must have only been if we stayed up)

10 games or so wans't enough for him to settle or for us to see his best.

I had heard that 2 Premiership clubs were interested but that was a couple of weeks ago. Nothing since.
