Has he still got another year on his contract? Surprised if we are keeping him, not sure he's up for the championship.

I only ask because I saw Hamer tweet Ben Hamer ‏@BenHamer21
Waiting for my new roomy Hughesy to turn up at the HQ for the week! Better clean the kettle @JohnSullivan13. No idea if that is the same hughes though.

Liked Hughes in his midfield role after initially looking terrible at right back in one of the cup games (was it Preston?). Strange as I think he captained Leeds as a right back.

He is a decent defender and we will need him this coming season.

Wouldn't be too disappointed to see Andy on the bench at a few of the very tough away matches next season.

Not the best player but we could do a lot worse I think.

I thought he was underused in the run in, but then who am I to criticise SCP seeing that we got 101 points!

I think he was unfit for much of the run in and he was limping during the walk round at the end of the season

Considering we can now have 7 on the bench, I think he would be very useful for the coming season

He did an excellent job for us in midfield last season when he played.

However there has to be a question mark as to whether he can do it in a higher division at the age of 35ish.

he was ace, we had him in the 4-0 win against carlisle, 2-1 wycombe, 4-0 hartlepool, 5-2 preston too... Anyone else seeing a theme here? Underated, engine roomer, him and Dan the man are hardworking ball winners, 2 in a starting 11 means business...

not the quickest but he seemed to pick up the correct positions and snuff out danger.

But useful to come on in the last 10 or 15 mins to help close the game out?

  • Think Hughesy will be leaving.

As a defensive midfielder yes, I thought he was excellent when he had a run in the team. As a full back, no!

I like him and hope he stays. Great attitude.

I am surprised that Hayes and Clarke haven't been moved on yet, both should command a fee.

Not sure anyone would want Clarke, wonder also what wages he is on

  • one year left and he will do the same. hang around and play the club palyer role.

he is best at cdm, but could see him filling in at right back for cups/midweek fixtures...
