My all time favorite charlton player. Does anyone know what he did after he retired or what he is doing now.
heard hes living in florida. after running some academys, he is now in pursuit of a patent for a portable soccer goal.

i remember when robbo was on week-to-week wages. he literally left every bit of sweat, blood, and heart on the pitch after every appearance thinking it was his last...

Legend .. he defines grit and determination and using every last gram's worth of talent .. my main memory apart from his consistent excellence was of him winding up Peter Beagrie (then playing for Bradford under Kamara) so much that Beagrie gave Robinson a mighty slap and was sent off .. soooooo funny

He didn't quite have enough for the Prem, but in the Champ, he was awesome.
He played every week for a side that finished top ten in the Prem!?
I'm pretty sure he didn't play every week? I'm more than ready to stand corrected. Love the guy though

The interesting thing is if we applied to JR the instant success requirements we have for players now, he would have been booed out of the club, it took him quite a while to settle in and establish himself in the first team. Most of the time these instant judgements that some of our fans make are way wide of the mark and Robbo proves that.
Very good point. He took a good couple of seasons to establish himself and to find some consistently good form.
These days he wouldn't have been given that time and would have been a target of the boo boys within six months.
Don't think this is just a Charlton thing though-more the way football has changed (for the worse) in general

Just looked. He played more in the prem than I thought (I was at uni then, and didn't get to many games)

He hardly ever beat a defender cleanly, just got by them through sheer determination - epitomised the fighting spirit that got us to another level.

Robbo had a fair bit of skill, Muttley .......but he did seem to lack that bit of acceleration that takes a winger past his opponent.

I guess that's where his sheer determination came into play.
