I agree .. Powell likes him, he's done a decent job for us etc etc and I hope we get him on a permanent basis .. he's got to watch his temper though

Now he would be an underwhelming signing. Will do a job but I hope we sign a CM a level above what we have to help us push on.

No thanks. He's decent but not the type of centre mid we need. We need a flair/creative player in centre mid.

Good player to fill a gap, but not much else. I'd take a punt though if we could get him on a one year contract.

Either he's very silly or he's already got another deal signed up.

And Jackson and Cort did the same thing only to sign for Charlton a few days later

Heard a few days ago that we are signing Russel and Schlupp on loan. Source= not telling you.

I'd have both of em, shame it's on loan.

No to Russell from me. Shown already he can't stay on a pitch very long and at 31 that isn't going to change.

Who are people expecting us to sign? Iniesta? Russell gives his all, has great experience and is a decent, versatile player. He'd be a good addition to the squad.

We won't be shopping at Fortnums, you know.

Bad discipline last year. I thought his worst tackles were when he had been outskilled or outpaced.

As was said above he's 31, and he's no Bryan Hughes.

    There are players out there.

Last year many said Bessone was decent so we should sign him. I said we could do better and we did with Wiggins.

Why settle for players that will do a job? We already have that in the squad.

He's getting on. I also thought he was average for league 1 let alone the champ. Better available on a free surely?

He was a decent squad player for League 1 and never really nailed down his place at a position we had a few question marks at, so I'm pretty sure we can do better.

Decent points but I suspect he'll be signing.

Me 'n all. Strange one if it's true. I get maybe CP thinks we need an older head but he was a bit of a risk last year and will be more so this imo.

Yep, we certainly can't afford 10 men in this league with far more creativity up against our back line.

No thanks, his record is relegation, promotion, relegation, promotion......

That aside, he had a couple of decent games and was unlucky slightly with his red against Sheffield United but he lost the plot against Huddersfield. We can do better, and in Pritchard and Stephens we have two CM's who arguably will be better.

Stephens and Pritch are irrelevent to the equation. Russel plays a holding midfield or a defensive midfield role. If he comes in it'll be as cover for Hollands.

Unless we're going to sign someone better than Hollands, Russel will do just fine.

Surely we have Hughes or even Pritchard to do that?
  • Russell is thex tough tackling no nonsense shore a game up type of midfielder we don't have

Am sure would offer solid back up for Hollands, but would hope that a creative cm will be coming in too to compete with Stephens/Pritchard.

I'd hope for someone better than Russell, but would accept him as he can do a decent job. What he also brought to the team was good energy, a geniune box to box player which Stephens certainly wasn't.

If we don't sign him, I'm sure another L1 team would snap him up. Stevenage certainly could do with another midfielder, and he'd be perfect for one of the newly relegated teams

We did have him last season though ?

  • Yep and he was a class act I know there was an over reaction to his sending offs but he was good for us and the balance we needed

Agreed, but it seems most addicks don't rate him. I saw him away at Yeovil and he was superb

  • He blew hot and cold , got sent off twice , we could regret signing him?

People way over reacted to his Huddersfield dismissal. He has more experience and nous than Pritchard and I'd have him as a squad player most definitely.
