From the above, the average amount of signings per club is currently five.

Interesting, we are the only club so far to have signed less than three players.

Though I've been compiling the list over the last three weeks, set out in a list I'm surprised how much activity there has been as I suspected it was a lot less.

Norwich bought 7 in the summer and 3 in January

Southampton 3 in the summer

Southampton signed 5 in the summer of 2011 (James Shea (loan), Jack Cork, Steven De Ridder, Danny Fox and Jos Hooiveld). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_transfers_summer_2011

Chris would have known who he wants before last season finished Eltham, plus every manager would like to get the new players bedded in as soon as possible.

I hope I am wrong but the stories coming out The Valley do not bode well and I would not be surprised if the 2 in and the 1 out as shown above are it for this sesaon.

Powell told the news shopper that he was hoping to make some signings last week but the deals fell through.

That suggests that he wants to make signings but hasn't been able to for whatever reason.

Didn't realise Wednesday had signed McCabe.

Looking at that list and some of the decent plsyets other clubs have brought in really concerns me. We must have pretty much the lowest wage bill in the division now ?

And that is what doesnt make sense. Our crowds /income are nowhere near the lowest, so where are the others getting their money from?

Looking at the list of transfers what strikes me is the number of "names" that some clubs are signing. For example: Watford - Almunia and Hall, Middlesborough - Woodgate and Parnaby. I would say we don't currently have any "names" on our squad and we don't look like signing any either.

My main worry has been whether we'd be able to keep the squad together, so not sure if the lack of "names" matters, but I'm less happy having seen the lists.

AFKA, Snodgrass has left Leeds for Norwich.

Statistics damn statistics -

177 transfers (in and out)
6 players account for the confirmed 8.25 million spent
54 transfers undisclosed
3 transfers to tribunal
10 transfers loanees

Therefore 104 transfers were free

10 clubs have brought in either the same or less than our +1

Surely the big question is not how many players we bring in but who would improve our squad?

I guess CP is emulating AC who in turn got the idea from Fergie; only buy to improve the squad.

What is the problem?

Saw Town live at Wembley v Blades and they were miles off the quality of CAFC in that game. Be interesting to see if those signings close the gap.

Did Puncheon sign for anyone? Heard he was linked with CAFC earlier in close season. Would he make Saints 25 squad, if he stays there? Be a decent signing, even if only loan.

Ward is quality - but apart from that you're right. Hopefully they'll finally go down this season.

My Palace mate is the same, worried that they have not replaced he quality they have lost. They don't look great at the moment so may struggle...plenty of time left to buy players yet though, and maybe they are just being picky like us.
