Eden Hazard - Chelsea's new hero?

What are everyones thoughts on Hazard? Fergie wanted him but stated he didn't think he was worth £32 million. In fairness he does have a huge set of expectations to meet as a player who has only played in Ligue 1 and never the prem , la liga or serie a. That said I think he'll storm to success straight away and justify his fee (as well as any footballer can anyway)

Here's one view on the matter ... http://blog.oddslife.com/2012/08/eden-hazard-chelseas-new-hero/

Averages a goal every four games, an assist every five. Pretty poor for an attacking midfielder "worth" £32m playing in the French League if you ask me. Don't think he'll cut it myself but as he is being likened to Messi I'd love to be proved wrong.

Chelski have so many attacking midfielders now its getting ridiculous and they didn't even need him as Mata pretty much does Hazard's job already. But I reckon he'll be good but not £32 million quids worth.
  • He's great.

He's no better than Mata, Nasri, Silva or probably even Kagawa

Has anyone actually ever seen him play enough to formulate a real opinion? I mean beyond YouTube, Football Manager and statistics? I've never seen him in a match but I tend to like big signings to be good as it makes the league more interesting. Hopefully he'll set the Prem on fire

In the England vs Belgium friendly he looked pretty average tbh.
  • People comparing him to Kagawa are laughable. Because of course they have the time to watch Charlton every week and nip over to Germany to watch the Bundesliga. Give me a break. The "experts" do my Swede in.

For the record, I've never seen said player play live.

Got him in my dream team this year think he might Be quality. Mata will probably be rested for a while and can see him turning in. Just a hunch mind, nothing concrete to support my madness........

Top dog on FM. So that means he must be absolute beast in real life as well.

I think he'l be quality. Think he will get more involved with time and moreso than Mata.
Was quite conservative in the England friendly a few months ago, didnt show any of his flair really.

More interested in seeing Kagawa for United tbh, could be a great signing for them. Hazard, cant see it, dont see him shining in the prem but have only seen him play 4-5 times.

Interesting that Fergie doesn't think he's worth the 32 million but I wonder what he thinks Rooney is worth ? Doubt Fergie would take less for Rooney and I think the Wayne Rooney world class footballer myth has at last been rumbled.

That's a pretty lazy interpretation of the stats though. You've included games he played when he broke into the side as a 16/17 year old. I'd say performances in the last 2 seasons are far more relevant than those from 4 years ago.

Assist stats are misleading anyway, and cannot be used accurately to say whether a player has performed well or not.

For the uninformed, EPSN show a lot of Bundesliga and Serie A games, and though I havent ever seen Messi live I know he's pretty good from watching him on the tv, so to dismiss an opinion just because they haven't seem them live is a bit much.

Hazard looks very small, and in the Belgium friendly he was largely anonymous against our ordinary defence, so I have my doubts.

Personally I think the 32mil they spent should have gone on a new right back, a new midfield enforcer and a new right winger, but there you go.

The Rooney thing has been done to death on here but Rooney has been key for United for years. Sir Alex couldn't/shouldn't care too much for his England performances.

ligue 1 is a really low standard of league overall apart from a handful of teams who are a cut above, i don't know where this 32m fee even came from (apart from his obvious pimping of himself to every club who's played in the champions league ever) don't think he'll shine at all in honesty.

I think he is a class player from the 7 time's i saw him play for Lille in the last 2 seasons but 32 million is crazy money.

I think he is an amazing player, and everyone who has played with him seem to like him. Cole said he was the best player he ever played with and Gervinho said he's not far from Messi. Pretty big comments not sure how good he is, but looking forward to seeing how he does.
  • Hated the way he went about the whole Transfer saga so I personally hope he fails miserably!
