"In the western part of Woolwich,
just south of the main road and the railway
that runs beside it, the ground is shaped
like a bowl, although the houses and buildings
that cover it hide its contours.
In this bowl, unexpectedly, is a patch
of green. It is a football ground,
and it is called THE VALLEY"

Anyone own a t-shirt with this on it.....just ironed mine and thought I would post those magical words on here.....also has the Goodbye Horse badge on the left arm.

  • Interesting...over a 100 views for this post but no comments, can only assume that no-one has the said T-shirt, I was hoping that someone could shed some light on where or who those words originated from. I can't even remember where I brought it, think it was at a game but probably not in the club shop.....it's pretty old now but still in reasonable nick and I still wear it with some pride.
  • Can honestly say i have never seen it and i have a collection of official and unofficial merchandise going back to 1973! but mostly collected in the 80's
  • Google says it is a quote from the book 'Battle for the Valley'.
  • Cheers crocky.
