When we cleared the ice and snow for the ill-fated boxing day Southampton game Steve Kavanagh personally thanked all of us, and we had a little lunch laid on in Bartrams.
Do you think Mr P is there today to fulfil the same function?

As you have already pointed out on another thread it's a very busy time of year for a football club and he is currently doing the job of two officers. Won't have time.

I really dont understand why there already seems to be an agenda with MP.

it will say on your confirmation email confirming that you're volunteering.

I'm sure someone from the club will be there to keep an eye on everyone and pass on thanks like last year. Paddy will be on the pitch too providing entertainment in his tractor

    loved doing this last year.

Why do you assume there is any kind of personal agenda with Mr P? I for one know nothing about him at all. I am however interested in how my club is run at the moment and what may be happening now I have paid over season ticket money for the 41st successive season.
Maybe it is none of my business.

I think Mick Everett performed this role at the seat cleaning last year, so I imagine he'll be doing the same this time around.

    .

    That is seriously impressive.

I wonder if anyone else has held a season ticket consecutively for longer?

I had one for a couple of seasons before my unbroken run too, but had a 'gap year'. Been going since 1963, but there are others who have been going longer than that.

I got an email on the 24th saying that I'd be on the list. Got there today at 10:10am, no one there, got let through gate 15 but still little going on and no one there at all so I just left. Waste of time today.

I was yes. Apart from some sort of builder people down in the corner where the police box is. Stadium is looking nice with the Nike logos up though ;-)

haha! Poor form from the club if you definitely had the right date. Are you sure there wasn't an email/article saying it was off?

It's pretty busy pitchside at The Valley today, with the valiant seat-cleaning volunteers in the final day of their fine efforts (MW) #cafc

41st year for me as well as a S/T holder. 1st year was 72/73 aged 10. Had been going off and on for 5 years before that.
  • Since 1970: Was 8 when started, although I didn't have a S/T in 93/94, but saw every Home game.

I went last Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed the day. There were about 12 of us there, with some real die hards who had been going pretty much every day, although there were 2 guys there who just sat around doing pretty much nothing all day and as soon as their free tickets arrived left which didnt go unnoticed by everyone else in the group.

The west stand was finished, as was the north lower, the plan for friday was to start on the north west corner, then the north upper, and then onto the family area and finally the east stand, although the regulars there had their doubts as to whether they would acutally get to the east stand due to lack of numbers.

By the way according to GD78's it looks like the enthusiasm for fans giving their free labour has gone.

I didn't have a job this time last year which is why i could help out. I guess those that took holiday to help out last year, didn't want to give up their holiday this year too to help out. I also only remember one email sent by the club about volunteering. I reckon they should have done a follow up to get more volunteers, they could never have enough. That east stand is a killer to clean and took ages last year!

I think that i heard someone say that he had been there all week but couldnt get there on the Thursday for some reason but I may be mistaken.

It was a shame, as I said there were about 5 retired die hards who had been there every day, a couple of guys out of work who were there to get the tickets as they couldnt afford to go otherwise, and people like myself, who had a day off work, and wanted to go down and lend a hand. The 2 other guys unfortunately went there for the free lunch and free tickets and had no intention of breaking their backs doing any work.

I really enjoyed it and would do it again if I ever had the chance.

From those of us who would no doubt moan if our seats were filthy, many thanks to @GD78 and all the others who have given up their time to help.

    It's much appreciated.

I'm confident more would have helped if it hadn't clashed with The Olympics. Well done GD78.
