Was he dropped last night or is he injured? After saturday he looked like he could've done with getting some match fitness

as he wasn't a sub, i presumed injured.

know i'm like a scratched record, but really Todorov is going to be this year's JFH....

think pards wants to Mclead in as soon as possible, also think when we signed tod pards said something like using him at home more to win games.

Pards no doubt thought Swindon away was an ideal fixture to see what McLeod can do.

    From the OS:
Of recent acquisition McLeod, formerly of League Two Milton Keynes Dons, the boss said: "I thought he showed in the second half in particular what he is all about. He doesn't hesitate to shoot and is direct, although we didn't really see his electric pace.

"Away from home he will be a threat. There are a few things we need to tune up but we like what we've seen so far in training and there's no reason why he can't be a big success at this level.”

I still think we'll see a lot of Todorov this season but Pards won't use him to do the grunt work so much.
He's got others to do the running, especially away from home.

Bent, compared to last season, has been a revelation. Varney is still to come in and nobody yet knows what he can do.

And there's Iwelumo, Dickson and the boy Walker on the sidelines all desperate to prove themselves.

We're not used to having such a luxury of options!
  • When fit what do people assume is going to be the first choice strike force. Notice that Pards said in many games he'd like to keep a settled side.

2 from Bent, Varney and McCleod I think.

Todorov looks like a poor mans Andy Hunt to me.
  • Personally i think Bent and Varney.
McLeod to come on away from home if we're chasing a goal.
Todorov to come on at home if we're chasing a goal.
Iwelumo to come on if we're trying to hold a lead as the man is an absolute lump and can defend set pieces.
    Dickson to get loaned out.
    Walker won't make it.

I'd agree with all of that although I'd bring on McLeod over Toddy everday of the week, home or away.

Injuries permitting, I think that's what Sir Pards has in mind.

We had dismissed Bent as even having a chance to be a regular - but something at last has been going on between his ears.

Bent has got strength, pace, the ability to hold the ball up and lay it off.
Maybe also the fact he's not used as a makeshift winger but playing in the main striker role, and no longer in Darren Bent's shadow?

And he'll stay in the team if he has truely shed his 'stinking thinking' attitude and forgets about his hamstring excuse.

Varney & McLeod seem interchangeable - we'll have to see on that one.

Todorov - maybe he'll not so much be our 'new' JFH, but more like Di Canio, playing particularly at home against packed, deep lying defences.

And the other 3 are our injury back up - but Walker & Dickson are sure to go out on loan at some point.

Oggy - Make you bang on about Todorov a real case of bringing something different to the party. Dropping a bit deeper and pulling a few strings

Varney and either Bent or McCleod for me.....Todarov, doesnt bring anything new to the game.....not much pace, no good in the air, couldnt really see why we took him in the first place...always happy to eat my hat if Im proved wrong.....

tod does see some good passes at times dropping deep to pick the ball up and involving the wingers.

i think tod will be an asset

I think people are being a bit harsh on Toddy, he wioll bring a touch of quality. I like the way pards is handling his forwards, i like the fact we have so many options as well! Lay off toddy he will not be another JFH.

    I agree with MCS, here.

We've only seen him a couple of times but we're judging Toddy only on his workrate.

In the Scunny game, his sublime crossfield to Sam completely unhinged the shape of their defence, we penetrated - and scored. I believe we will see much more of that and he'll prove his worth significantly over the course of a season.

If he only made half a dozen qualty passes in a whole game but scored one, made 2 and was involved in the buildup of other good chances - would people still be on his back?

    Well said Oggy!

I know we are talking wildly different eras but Killer was often totally anonymous for 89 minutes of the 90. Yet he made a major input in that minute.

Toddy set up the goal and his running OFF THE BALL took defenders away opening it up for Marcus and sometimes Reidy or Ambrose.

We have physical presence and pace amongst our strikers but Toddy offers guile.

All those qualities will be useful over a whole season.
