Sound like dodgy solicitors !

Not got to see either play yet, what positions would best suit them, how would the team shape have to change if they were to feature in the first team, and who would they replace ?

neither good enough to start imo but both will feature a lot off the bench

Cook was very promising last night...left wing seems to be his position but i'm sure he equally could do a job on the right.

Kerkar was used as a CM yesterday and you could tell that he wasn't very experienced in that position. But to have him on the bench at least gives cover to the likes of whoever is playing left-wing/CM.

Both have something to offer. Both good on the ball and look to attack. Unfair to judge them on last night when they played in a scratch side. I think both could slot in to the first team without much trouble.

I think Kerker could play in the middle or wide. Not sure about how well Cook would do the Jackson role but in a 4 -5-1 or in-behind Kermo might be a very useful.

Kerkar has the sort of ability that could have him anywhere in attacking midfield. He seems comfortable on the ball and is very direct.

Jordan Cook was brilliant last night. Very tight ball control and can dribble through players too. One of his runs in the second half reminded me of Paul Mortimer! Just wish he had taken a shot at the end of it.

Kerkar doesn't work too well in a flat 4 midfield, he got caught in possession in our own half a couple of times, he's more of an attacking midfielder imo, playing infront of 2 holding midfielders in a midfield 3

Cook looked good. He is quite direct and likes to dribble with the ball.
Kerkar looks like he might be more at home on the left of midfield. The reason I say this is because his positioning was not great from goal kicks, throw ins etc. He lost quite a few headers.

Cook looked to have some quality about him.

In my opinoin I would start cook at LM and move jackson inside as he has no pace for a LM and at champ level it will get exploited.

Kerkar great on the ball but lacks some strength on the ball, give him space and he will hurt you though, also crap in the air.

Really impressed with Cook, good feet and a good passer of the ball

They both impressed me to be fair. But I do think Cook was better. Would like to see Kerkar in a more natural position

Cook did a brilliant job of chasing down some lost causes too, in which one or two of them actually paid off.

I seem to recall someone from Carlisle said this of him. I love it when a player does this and it certainly endears them to the fans

Thought both played well. Kerkar can take a good corner.

Cook impressed me greatly - was the main positive of last night.

Id say Kerkar ist starting on Saturday alongside Stephens. He chose to rest him rather than Danny Hollands when the game went into Injury time.

If Cook can play right midfield then the starting XI is sorted. It looks the one position where we might be a bit light (away to Birmingham don't be surprised if Wilson plays in front of Solly or visa versa).

Cook looks very pacey and direct. Can see him starting in front of both waggy and green on the right. Even tho he did play LM last night.

Brilliant might be overstating it, but i agree with this

I'd say his was "brilliant" based on the fact that he ran around as if he was playing a Cup final rather than a 1st round League cup game.

  • He was the standout player for us on the night for sure and should get in ahead of either Green or Wagstaff IMO
  • Impressed by both although I agree with the 4-2-3-1 comment regarding Kerkar. Impressed by his technique (corners and a few really nicely weighted passes), just didn't look solid enough play in a flat 4. Who knows though, could adapt, get stronger etc

Cook looked very impressive until he had a nasty tumble in the 2nd half, came back on but seemed to fade in influence and energy, though after the shift he put in seems probable he was just tired! Kerkar seems a bit out of the Thomas/Rommedahl/Bouzza mold, speed and some genius touches, then bottles it/makes a duff call at inconvenient times. That said I believe he is probably not 100% match fit so judgement reserved.

Short version: neither automatic first team choices, both good to have as subs/challenging for a start.

Cook looks like the kind of guy you bring on after an hour to run at a tired full back with a yellow card to his name. I still think the first XI will be unchanged from last year, but I am happy with that right now. The 7 subs rule will really help out people like Kerkar, Cook, Wagstaff and Pritchard this season.

I think Pritchard will start CM with Stephens on saturday, both Hollands and Kerkar looked knackered

Not sure I would want kerkar and Stephens in central midfield to start on sat. neither have particularly strong defensive qualities, Kerkar was hustled off the ball quite a few times lat night, I'd have him on the bench and brought on as a match changer

i doubt he will be as effective on the right

I thought Kerker was superb at times last night where as cook wasn't. I think he will be a luxury player though as i'm not sure where he will fit into a 442 starting line up.

This. x10. Cook showed some good moments, but I thought Kerkar was a bit of a playmaker - seemed to have a bit of pace and made some good runs.
