    They tried the passing game, just not fluent enough yet. And some lacks in concentration going forward. Stoke lumped it forward all day and got at us, with only two bits of quality, both resulting in goals. McCarthy at fault. Too easily turned and beaten.

    Fortune looked good at centre back and right back. Even had a few good crosses on the bombing run forward. Think he will come into his own this season.

    Come on mate - We're all disappointed but Sunderland and Birmingham didn't start particularly well last season so let's just give it time before we talk about whether we're in with a chance of promotion.
