Vodafone data charges - most expensive 3 charlton games I have had updates on -rip off
Any way called Vodafone - been with them 12 years and never missed a payment - asked if they could help out on the charges - total blank and as rude as F@@k basically said you used it you pay it - even offered to send me an itemised bill for £1. 50 -
My argument was how do you know how much data your downloading - he told me to log on and check -
Spoke with a mate of mine who also done the same 2 years ago and they gave him 50% off -
Any one else experienced this with voadafone - Also how rude and unhelpful there overseas help desk are

To be fair mate it's your own fault I have learnt to my own cost always turn data roaming off before you go away
However totally agree on the vodafone rant I have been with them for 16 years and wont renew next year because of various issues within the last year
I'm sure they wont lose too much sleep over it0 -
I just spent 2 weeks in the states and after reading data charges just decided it was pointless even bothering to have that option turned on. TBH with so much free wifi in the US it would have been a waste of money to have took the risk. Could have got the same for a price of a bigmac0

Just checked my bill, being charged £3 for half a mb, when I had a text saying 2mb would cost 58p and would be capped.
I'm also on a World Traveller deal & they said that meant it would get taken off my allowance - it hasn't.
A call to Vodafone tonight/tomorrow.0 -
I had an issue with Vodafone but they did give me a refund.
Do you have a smart phone, iPhone, by any chance? They will gobble up data at an alarming rate without you knowing. This is why every document and every employee recommends you turn data roaming off. If you'd asked on here I'm sure someone would have told you what was going to happen.
Sadly you just cannot restrict what these phones do these days. Better to turn data roaming off and look for free WiFi stations.0 -
I had an issue with Vodafone when trying to get a new phone or my daughter, I dropped a humble style email to the CEO. guy.laurence@vodafone.com his PA was on the case in no time and proved very helpful, worth a try0

I work in the telco industry, you have very little chance of a refund my friend!
Basically, here is how it works, your telco buys "roaming" data wholesale at a set price from every major foreign telco, whenever you roam onto the foreign network the foreign telco bills your telco at this rate.
Your telco then receives that bill - this is 100% true - and basically multiplies it by between 100 and 1,000 times and sends the bill to you! This is one of the telcos biggest money spinners - but they have burnt too many people and are now trying to find a different solution.
I gave a presentation to a multi-national telco last year and their head roaming honcho showed me the mark ups they charged for data roaming - even he was embarrassed.
The only people who have tried to help consumers are Len Glover's friends at the EU who put a cap on how much you can be charged for roaming rates. Bastards!0 -
