Don't eat Stag chilli then. The stuff smells so bad on re-entry into the atmosphere that the dog went into the toilet and started barking and growling afterwards0

I agree with Southend. People used the stalls outside the ground rather than get ripped off in it.

the one thing i liked about the stalls was the food was hot and made in front of you where as the club it is made hours before and cold also you have to quere up for bloody hours0

like those grizzler burgers on charing cross road, where they wheel up, re-heat the sausages from 3 nights ago and fool you into thinking its fresh???
not exactly made in front of you are they!
I love the smell of the onions cooking, almost made me want to buy one of them!0 -

So, the concensus (on here) appears to be that the food in the ground is overpriced and shite. I agree, and personally preferred to buy a burger from outside - freshly cooked (and hot!), half and price and with twice the taste.
Agree, too, that the whole vendors thing added to the atmosphere pre-match and noticed straight away pre-Scunny that they were missing.
Suspect the Council have justification from stopping 'sellers' from selling on Council property without a licence (i.e. if selling from a garden of a council tennant) but where would they stand if it was from privately owned ground? If it's a licencing thing, then if the burgers were not sold but a donation given then would a licence be required? At my daughters summer school fete they had a beer tent but because the school doesn't have a licence drinks were subject to a 'donation' rather than being bought - seemed to go down well!0 -

just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
I suspect that the burger vans etc will be back when they have the licences and the house front operations when they have got the right business rates. Or when they think the council have stopped looking.
Fair point about dodgy food at the Valley but at least you have someone to complain to. customerservice@cafc.co.uk goes thru' to a very efficient young lady who passes all messages on to the relevant person.
I prefer the chippy opp. the Cherry Orchard est. They and all the other cafes and shops have to pay rates etc etc and I bet that their matchday income is a big factor in their profitability just like for the pubs and clubs.
I've bought dozens of badges off the stalls outside the Valley but the guy who own them all has had a good few years run. If you set up a stall to sell dodgy DVDs outside HMV or Warner Bros or snide bags outside Louis Voulton (sp?) you'd get moved on in minutes. Same if I tried to sell beer outside the Oak or Liberal club.0 -
