A fine 2-0 win at Grimsby yesterday in front of a crowd of over 4,000. Grimsby's first defeat in 11games. Dartford are now 4 points in front of Grimsby and are in the last play-off position in what is, as usual, a very competitive division. This is, I believe, the highest placing Dartford has ever achieved.

    Sort of yes ans sort of no. In 1974 (think) they won the then southern league which was i of the top 2 non-leagues. It was split northern and southern before the advent of the conference.

    I took my assumption from a quick look thru Wiki .. I was waiting for someone who knows the club and it's history to put me right .. thanks Redman. At least since the introduction of the pyramid system, the measures of success and failure are more clear cut

    This was of course before the club went into liquidation and was reformed under the same name by a group of supporters. Having no ground and had to start well down the leagues (kent league at first I think). Another reason for my "sort of" comment

    Nice to see them doing well after all the shit they've been through over the last 20 years.

    On a purely selfish note though, Is it really in our interests that they are looking good? After all, NW Kent is a good catchment area for us and the more successful they become, the more future fanbase we may lose.

    MOG, Dartford have never graced the heights of the football league, the s*** known as Maidstone unfortunately did and played at Watling Street Dartford, perhaps you where thinking of them.

    Used to go along to Watling st with a Maistone supporting mate and watch them when charlton wern't playing. Used to be quite a good laugh actually. Recall they had the worst kit in the football league (and that was saying something back then.

    am sure they were in top 3 of what is now conference and only just missed out on election to the league by couple of votes in early 80s

    Badger, yes can confirm they are still part time. Can also confirm that Mr one lung is also correct. If 200 was up there then it would represent 1/6th of there home gate which would probably equate to Charlton taking between 2,500 and 3,000 up there.

    However I think that the remarkable thing was the size of the overall gate 4,000 people for a conference game, last time I was up there with Charlton I think the gate was around 5,000.

    Thai, my biggest fear, the two teams I love and supported for over 55 years playing each other. I refused to go to Dartford v Charlton in the semi final of the Kent senior cup as I couldn't decide what end to stand in :-)

    Yes, I have the same problem if Bromley were to play Charlton.....although I enjoyed the Bromley FA Cup tie @ Dartford last season :-)

    I'd be delighted if they do well, it's unlikely they'll make a serious dent on our attendances. Also Maidstone United have finally gone back to Maidstone, with their own new (small) ground, it's good both clubs have returned to their own towns and grounds.

    Dartford are looking to go full time which will be detremental to them as they'll lose many of their players, if darts stay part time and continue this form it'll be like my FM season coming to life!
