Thought of you tonight Uncle. I know you will tell JJ how chuffed we all are on here. Leeds fan in the bar thought his introduction changed the game, he was well impressed, even though his fellow Yorkshiremen, who happen to follow Liverpool, were trying to claim him as one of theirs...
  • Ypu made it up spooky lane then unc without a heart attack

Welldone mate u mustve loved that last night

Great performance - for a 20 yr old on his debut to be, through his movement, virtually demanding that all play go thru' him was outstanding.

Had a full heart watching him last night. Remembered the first time I saw him at Sparrows Lane when he had just turned 15 and Damian Matthew and Steve Avory telling me that he was the best young prospect they'd ever seen. Remembered all the academy games I watched where he ran the show with his skill and vision. Remembered the feeling of pride and delight when he made the first team and then the frustration of watching him rather sidelined in favour of the less talented Racon. But when he played - what a pleasure. Just as I had done with Scott Parker, I woke up on Saturday mornings with a sense of excitement that I was going to see Jonjo on the pitch at The Valley. Still watch his progress with delight (just wish it wasn't the Scousers, but nevermind, now I can take full pleasure in his England career). Give him my best wishes, as usual, Uncle.

Really pleased for the lad - his family must be very proud.

Did anyone notice that cheeky move that he pulled off not long after coming on where he did some sort of Cruyff-ish spin to keep possession. The crowd certainly enjoyed it too!

Hopefully this is the start of a long and successful England career. Go for it Jonjo.

I thought he looked very comfortable. You can see he has played through all the England age levels from an early age. Uncle, how many caps has he got in total for England at all levels?

Uncle, perhaps you could have a word and get the golf swing celebration for his first England goal?
  • Just brilliant and fantastic

  • Always keep an eye out on TV for Jonjo, such a fine young man and player. Really proud that he started at Charlton and only wish that Parky had used him more. Wish him well.

I was at the game, I too cheered like mad when he came on, and I also said to the Liverpool fella next to me, he's charlton first before Liverpool!! he did look so comfortable, regardless of the oppo, it was his senior debut, He could of been affected by nerves etc, but no, he look the business. I watched him off the ball too, he wanted the ball all the time. He just looked class, better than the rest of the midfield.
