Another youth product on the verge of playing for England

Wonder if we had a clause written into the sale? No I doubt it as we probably thought he was going to play for Finland. Well done tho Carl.0

We did not have much bargaining power, its unlikely that a tribunal would have given us the money that Arsenal were offering, so adding any clauses would have been unlikely0

i dont think it went to a tribunal? That only happens when the two clubs cant agree a deal, which in this case we did. So I'm not sure the details of that.Kap10 said:We did not have much bargaining power, its unlikely that a tribunal would have given us the money that Arsenal were offering, so adding any clauses would have been unlikely

Thats what he meant I assume. We agreed the fee and any clauses. I think Kap was saying we did well to get the 1 mil so further clauses are unlikely.kentaddick said:

hodgson needs to take a look at chris solly, dont see jenkinson scoring any screamers lately0

I would assume any hypothetical clauses would be regarding international appearances regardless of country as he had already played for Finland at youth level but still qualified for England (unlikely as that seemed back then!)ParkinsonOut said:Wonder if we had a clause written into the sale? Don't forget Jenkinson was out of contract at Charlton - so he wasn't actually sold, as such.
The money we received from Arsenal was a development fee, as the player was aged under 23.0 -
good point but clauses/add ons could still have been agreed. Just depends on the deal we reached.Oggy Red said:Don't forget Jenkinson was out of contract at Charlton - so he wasn't actually sold, as such.

Jenkinson is playing champions league Solly ain't so despite what we think CJ will always get in ahead of CS0

Thanks CAFCFAN1990 exactly what I meant. We were fortunate to get £1m given CJ had only made a handful of Division 1appearances. Overall for a player out of contract, who we only had sufficient confidence in to previously give only a 1 year contract we did well.0

nope, I'm staggered to be fair that Jenkinson is being considered for England, he always seems to have absolutely no pace to me.MuttleyCAFC said:Serious question now - would anybody do a straight swap - Jenkinson for Solly?

You have to be joking, this was his main asset. Seriously quick for a big guy, makes little Chris look pedestrian by comparison. It is his pace that allows him to be a decent defender.Elthamaddick said:
