Free Books for Kindle

My wife bought me a 'basic' (her word) Kindle and I am hopeful someone can tell me a good source for downloading free books please. I have acquired a taste for Peter Robinson Inspector Banks plots and would particularly like source for these.
Hopefully someone can help me? Many thanks.

The weekend Daily Mail (think Sunday but not sure) has a load of top tens and one of them is top ten free kindle books.
If you want a certain author then you can type his name in the Amazon search (make sure you search the Kindle libarary rahter than everywhere) and that will highlight them.
Do bear in mind though that not every author offer their books for Kindle (although this is getting less and less) and that popular authors are rarely free and on the odd occasion can be more expensive than the paperback version.

    Happy e reading!

Most of the stuff on the above sites are "classics". Which means out of copyright. Still, that means Dickens, Hardy, etc, etc. One issue is that the books are not neccessarily transferred to a digital format very accurately and consequently tend to suffer from annoying typos more than their traditional counterparts.
There are indeed also masses of free books available direct from Amazon. Some are surprisingly good. I'd recommend The Crew by Dougie Brimson which has an unexpected twist in the tail.

There are quite a few authors 'publish' at a cheap price on amazon first and if successful then go into print. I think 'The Slap' and 'The Room' are examples.

Good point about the typos CAFCfan, Kindles are not for those who go into meltdown when they see a mistake!

Amazon also keep doing new releases for 20p. I recently download Ken Follets new release Winter of the World for that price, good stuff.
