Not even up for debate. SCP is the man for us and we're the Club for him.

He's still learning along with Alex Dyer. They are both intelligent men who will learn from their mistakes and will, with the support from The Board, drive this Club in the right direction.

Don't like saying 'this', but 'this' x 1000!

We absolutely have to stand behind Chris Powell. Nobody is saying that he has got everything right, but how he was supposed to plan properly for this season with the extreme financial uncertainty and executive-level turmoil around him beggars belief.

If Chris goes then there will be no hope until these owners are gone too.

    This.

No even a waver in my support for Powell. He is the long haul manager for me. Maybe it will take 5 years to become a solid Championship side. Anything more than than with the resources we have is just dreaming really. Last season, as fantastic as it was, was maybe a fluke. How many other times has a completely new squad gelled together to smash a league. Unfortunately some/most of those players are not good enough for the Championship. Powell has shown that he can build a squad and instill confidence, so there is nothing to be proved there. What he needs is firm backing to instill the confidence in himself that he is here to stay through the good and the bad.

The board dont need to come out and say that they have confidence in Powell, that should be a no brainer. What they need to do is come out and say they have confidence in this club and 'will' be providing the resources necessary to achieve that aim.

  • We need to take the pressure off Powell and the players. I have no doubt that they are all giving 100%, it's just that nothing is going our way atm, injuries, refereeing decisions, individual mistakes. The injuries have happened to our most influential and in form players. We will be fine, the worst thing we could do is panic. We need to cheer Powell and the players even in defeat, so long as they continue to give their all. Some times in life the odds are just too great to overcome and you just have to accept the inevitable result, as unpalatable as that can sometimes be. If he had a fully fit squad and money to spend it might be different, but he hasn't.

Despite the learning curve, I would rather have Chrissie Powell as our manager than any other (except Curbs) we have had in my time - and I go back to Eddie Firmani, Bob Stokoe etc. I am deliberately placing him even above Lennie. Simple reasons are 1) he has the personal qualities and coaching potential to become a top football manager and 2) he clearly LOVES Charlton - and that counts for a whole load in my book.

Can some enterprising bloke work with Stig to get a few hundred T shirts made with this on the front. I would defo buy and wear one at a future home game to show my support.

Agree completely mate. No one is above criticism and no one bigger than the club but I think that letting CP leave or sacking him would be hugely detrimental.

I occasionally pop on the millwall site and have a good old chuckle at their infighting about jackett

Get behind the manager ffs, not just on tuesday, not just till December, for the rest of the season and beyond there isn't anyone I would rather managing this side at the moment

We have I think 6 championship level players in this squad - Morrison, Cort, Yann, Wiggins, Solly and Fuller

If we can get all those players in the side and fit I think we will be fine and if there are funds for a centre midfielder in January all the better

One thing I have noticed having read this site this morning for the first time since the game we have some of the wettest defeatest moronic supporters in the country

    Man up

    Good comment.

But I think Hulse is Championship standard and Wilson has the potential to be if he carries on improving like he is. Think he could prove important from Christmas onwards.

  • My total support for the Gaffer is unwavering .

At this moment in time, he IS Charlton - It must be written on his heart .

Without him, I fear for the future of this Club - his departure would give us all the worst possible signals and it would take a looong time to rebuild any kind of relationship between the Club and its paying customers.

How about some banners/flags for Tues night showing our support for him ? I'm happy to spend my time sewing the relevant words on my Union Jack in readiness for a show of support from the East. Anyone else?

As Airman rightly stated, we need to show our support for the Main Man, so the North Upper lads & lasses and the new group publicised on here need to get everyone singing /chanting his name for 90 mins on Tuesday night, whatever is happening on the pitch.

We HAVE to do our bit now with a vengeance before it's too late , regardless of whether we have any influence over the decisions of TJ & co.

We ARE the new, reformed VALLEY PARTY !!!

Any chance of tea towel sized ( or larger) versions of this to purchase on the way in on Tues night ? Anyone out there with the know how etc ? I'd buy half a dozen.

We need to get a good atmosphere going on Tuesday night just to lift everyone. Night games can be good like this, I hope the north stand sing their hearts out for everyone to follow. Sadly the west and east stands are grave yards.
  • I actually though the support for the team was OK yesterday. The first half was a decent display, the talk in the bogs at half time was about the missed chances and Wilson's injury. The second half was a disaster, obviously after the 3rd goal went in things were less happy, but there were no negative chants and Powell himself would have expected boos after the game, after a 4-1 home defeat against a decent, but hardly world beating team.

Following on from the other home performances (Palace and Barnsley especially) it's fair to say that the team at home is underperforming, even allowing for injuries. I'm sure Powell will get it right, though probably not on Tuesday...

I agree, getting rid of CP is ridiculous.

This maybe but the one person who was putting bums on seats has been sacked, why would you do this when it increases your fan base, lifts the sound level, increases income,
    etc

I really do have that wallpaper. The missus chose it for our 70s inspired spare room. Turn on the larva lamp, light the incense and put my headphones on. Lovely!

I would give him a five year contract right now, right now when he is at his lowest. I would honour it even if relegated. There is no alternative I can think of at all. I actually feel honoured that we have Chris Powell as our manager.

I have printed it out - A4. looks good.

Going to bring it to the game on Tuesday.

Is there any way to make Chris stand out even more on this thingy?
