Was it given for obstruction then?0

Thought so. Ref had his hand in the air as well.lordromford said:Was it given for obstruction then?

Didn't even think obstruction existed as an offence anymore. Who cares though!0
-
Did the keeper touch it, if it was indirect he should have just left it! Stephens looked very embarrassed when it went in!Addickted said:Was it indirect? If so, it should be an own goal by the keeper.

Didn't mean it , but who cares , about time something went for us.0
-
I thought direct and indirect free kicks were a thing of the past.0
-
every good free kick should be finding the back of the net if no-one touches it. stephen's delivery was superb all night and he got his just reward0
-
Interviewed him after, it was a cross0
-
I said it was a goal before it went in - so proud ; )0

Good job, their keeper doesn't pass the CL height test. :-0)0

If Hamer had let that free kick in, he would've been crucified. But it was a fantastic cross by Stephens. Lots of pace right into the danger area0
-
Keeper touched it anyway - made a right mess of it !!0

Who is Stephen?0

Terrible cross how on earth were our lads expected to get a head on that0
-
it not a fgantastic cross any keeper worth there salt would catch that major stroke of luck for dale boy i think he would have got an earful as he jogged past the dugout had it not gone in0
-
He does sometimes have a habit of over-hitting some corners and free kicks.
No way is that a terrible cross though. Although you want to have something like that go on someone's head, the aim is to put it in a danger area. He did that, it caused them danger - simple.0 -
Decent delivery into the right area, as others have said, about time we had some luck this season. Well done Dale0

Watch the goal again - yes the keeper was slightly off his line, however even if he had been correctly positioned I still think he would have had to tip it over the bar at best. By no means an easy ball to deal with.0
-
Would have been a comfy tip over - I said under my breath - too close to the keeeeeep....oh er. Stephens delivery is very good though - put a good free kick in first half. He deserved a goal but keeper should have stayed on his line.0

At least you kept it under your breath. I was half way to my feet shouting "that's too lon......g...oal"MuttleyCAFC said:Would have been a comfy tip over - I said under my breath - too close to the keeeeeep....oh er. I didn't think it was a good cross - sailed way over the heads of the forwards, none of whom made any sort of challenge for it. I thought it was going out of play, keeper must have thought so too because he made a right hash of it.0
-
I made the same 'mistake'. I let out an anguished 'No!' when I saw it sailing towards the goalie.CatAddick said:

Presumably, the BBC commentary said something like, 'Dale Stephens scores direct from 40 yard free kick'. People following that must have thought it was a wonder goal.0 -
Except they probably would've credited it to Scott Wagstaff...Uboat said:

Before he took it I told my mate sitting next to me he should have a cheeky shot

Powell said in his interview that it was direct.0
