Promotion to the Prem!

Right I think we can push on now to secure one of those top spots. Hope we don't have to go through the agony of the play-offs.

If we got in to the prem we would need 15 player signings at a cost of god knows how much. Look at Southampton, QPR. It would be nice to get in for a year and have the parachute payments, but that money would go on salaries for the 15 new players on long term contracts who were not good enough to keep us in the premier league. At best we would be a yo-yo club and for many of our 'fans', that would just not be good enough. We'd have a new lynch party mentality as did for Lord Llewellyn.

Then sing about it for the next fifty years?

Do you remember a few years back Millwall being top in December? I think we beat them at the New Den and they went on a slide to relegation.

we could always buy decent players from below the prem with relegation clauses, but I agree with the point you are making

It is the stuff of fantasies.

However, all I would say as Devil's Advocate is:

Apart from 'boro, no team has beaten us by more than a goal.
Arguably, we have 40% of our best outfield 10 to come back (Kermy, Wiggo, Fuller & Wilson).
The team we beat last night (top before the game) have now lost five from eight away and that in itself shows how open the Division is.
We don't have a player such as Zaha or Austin who's loss in January could cripple our chances.

By the same token we could end up in the bottom three ;-(
