Danish keeper Stephan Andersen has hit out at Charlton for failing to hand him a chance to shine.

Andersen is third choice at The Valley behind Scott Carson and Thomas Myhre and he has failed to make any sort of impression in South East London.

An injury to Myhre pushed Andersen up the pecking order, but this has only added to the Dane's frustration as manager Iain Dowie has prevented him from turning out for the reserves for fear of him picking up an injury.

Andersen is keen to secure a move away from Charlton, but feels his chances are being reduced by his lack of playing time.

"Charlton don't even allow me to play for the reserves," a frustrated Andersen told BT.

"I have told them many times that I want to play as much as possible for the reserves, but they don't let me do it.

"Actually, I haven't played for over a month. It's primarily because our back-up keeper Thomas Myhre is injured.

"They don't want me to play because they are fearing that I will get injured as well.

"It is irritating, because I need playing time. As far as I have been informed, there is no offer from other clubs.

"It's hard to prove yourself when you don't get to play."

Think we made a big mistake letting him go. Always looks commanding for Denmark. Just made a great save against Turkey displaying the quality we lost. Spent good money on him to. Sad.

Remember Andersen playing brilliantly at home to Man U.

Serves him right for driving around Charlton in a white Porsche 911 Turbo with "AND350N" number plate on it.

    I know.

    But a white Porsche?

    Classless.

Was costing us a goal a game in his last few appearances.

Has clearly improved since he was with us, but no surprise when we let him go.

I thought he was poor for us and can remember him being beaten at the near post, something which shouldn't happen to a goalkeeper with premiership aspirations in my opinion and therefore he probably deserved to be our number three at the time.

All that said he has evidently worked hard at his game subsequently and made the most of the talent he was blessed with.

    Credit to him for that.

Thought he was a very decent keeper and was surprised to not see him as our Number 1 for longer.

I think Dean Kiely expected that to be the case too!

You should have seen him last night in Turkey vs Denmark, 2 absolutely outstanding reflex saves and has clearly developed from a young keeper at Charlton to a confident keeper of international standard. Even his distribution was good last night, though still a frequent flaw in his game. And Ibrahimovic's masterclass over England was incredible.
  • He was brilliant at Euro 2012 as well.

I hope that for the sake of football Iain Dowie does not get another coaching job.

So a keeper got injured, and instead of giving the other keeper game time in case we needed him, Dowie stopped him from playing at all?!

    Jesus

Anyway, I always liked Andersen, and like Randolph he was a victim of our goalkeeping strength in depth, he moved on and is now Denmark's number 1, something that will also probably happen to Randolph and ROI eventually
