RIP Bob Scott
As well as playing for the All Blacks Bob was a great family friend of ours. He had known my mother since she was a small girl growing up in Wellington, New Zealand and it was he who encouraged her to take up golf - a sport she loves more than any other. On top of that Bob was a true fighter who'd had a difficult upbringing but channeled his energy at becoming the very best in his sport. My family will miss Bob very much so I hope you don't mind this little indulgence of mine.

Rugby was my chosen sport to play as a youngster .. If I recall Bob Scott did something that could never have been done by an Englishman .. he changed codes from League to Union .. a hanging offence for the RFU. A hard, working class rugby man .. RIP0

Not old enough to remember him but must have been a fine rugby player if he got into the All Blacks Hall of Fame. RIP Bob.

Just to pont out that even I am not old enough to remember Bob playing. I was awed as a teenager by Whineray's AB team from the early 60s when the formidable Don Clarke was always compared to Bob Scott as a full back. The concensus was that Bob was 'ahead of his time''. As for so many men, World War 2 took much of his youth and potential.0

Yes Lincs. I suppose you could say it was the same for someone like Stanley Matthews. Ahead of his time.Lincsaddick said:Just to pont out that even I am not old enough to remember Bob playing.
