With regards to my point, my opinion (rightly or wrongly) and I realise I worded it terribly, is that I dont tolerate homophobic chanting but I feel when its aimed at Brighton its just a bit of banter/stick. The gay thing is a dated bit of banter with Brighton - like tractors with norwich and sheep with cardiff - the songs are offensive but critically, they are boring - if they were humorous, then no matter how un PC, they are more acceptable, if thats the right word. Humour always involves ridicule in some way - Jeremy Kyle at Millwall, Jimmy saville to Leeds - i think things have gone a bit over the top whereby being homophobic or racist are seen as almost on a par with murder - they are of course wrong but football has always involved a bit of wrong - too much of it is offensive and boring so to go through the full repertoire of gay brighton songs is above anything else just predictable and unwitty.0

It's humour FFS. A good mate of mine is Brighton, built like an outhouse and has his fair share of run ins in the name of Brighton - he happily laughs at it all.
If we really are that sensitive then threatening Millwall with Jeremy Kyle is very discriminating against their perceived social class.
What If any of them did have problems at home or came from disfunctional families, or had shagged their sister ?
How bad would they be feeling now that they had to endure that kind of abuse ?

The last two times Brighton have visited the Valley their support, like their team, was excellent. I expect them to be the same on Saturday. 'We are Brighton, from the south', and the witty (sung at us) 'you dirty northern ba*tards' being a couple that are memorable.
I would like to think we could be a bit more creative than the homophobic stuff. We have as many gay fans as Brighton I suppose, so it is boringly predictable singing that stuff.
However Brighton do have the only Green Party MP, and in Gardner Street a shop called Vegetarian Shoes. There you go, a ready made individual Brighton attribute to sing about.
