Following reports of the racial abuse of Charlton players during Saturday’s match against Millwall, and subsequent consultation between the club officials, the police and players concerned, it has been decided that no formal complaint will be made to the police. There was a programme on racism on grassroots football recently, there was lots of incidents where horrible acts of racial abuse were perpetrated but no one reported them as they did not have any evidence and felt they would not be acted on. This allowed the leading organisations to proclaim there was no racism as they had received no complaints.meldrew66 said:Fact: it happenned. Fact: I can't 'prove' it. Nothing more to be said. The lesson of this is, if you do make a complaint at least it will be listed as a complaint no matter what the response is to it.

I will add that in my 6 years that i lived in Scotland, i attended a fair amount of local football matches, first time i heard racism, i did leave it as i can understand that confusion and worry about wanting to stay out of it but i did'nt stop thinking about it and so the next 3 times i heard Racism during my stay in scotland i did report it to stewards and a local police officer working at the match, now sadly on what i have seen in football in general, especially scottish football i doubt anything happened but im glad i reported it on the other occasions.
So i understand why Meldrew left it this time but i hope he now thinks he should of spoken to someone official even if not during the match or in a hostile Millwall crowd.0 -
Last season we had that small group of fans supposedly singing a racist song/songs.
The next week we had club officials in a frezzing cold away end at Walsall on the case, trying to point out those in the wrong.
Millwall have never done this have they?
And after how many reports of racism, this season alone even! they don't take our lead and stick someone in amongst it to get to the core of the problem.
