    blimey, you're right. really odd if that was a planned move in a game they needed to win to get into europe

    Yep, it still seems strange. The only other explanation is that someone in the club shop was summoned and asked to print his name and number on a kit PDQ and get it to the touchline.

    I vaguely remember that Man City also had a recognised striker on the bench (Macken perhaps?) but plumped to have 2 goalkeepers on the pitch instead. I'd be offended if I was left on that bench!
