In 1998–1999, Parkinson played in the Bury team that were relegated from the second tier on goals scored, the only team to have ever done so.

That would be a good stat if it were true, but PP had left for Reading several years before that. There was one Charlton man involved in that relegation though. Their goalkeeper that season was Dean Kiely. He transferred to us that summer, so The Shakers' loss was our gain.

That relegation must seem doubly tough on Bury as there were 4 teams all finishing on 47 points. But then, if you only score 35 goals in 46 games, you're asking for trouble.
