    Tell them you accidentally whacked the pipe with a Hamer, otherwise they'll try to screw you. It's what they do.

    Unfortunately the plumber who came round to fix the problem contacted the loss adjuster - its a small town.

    Is there conclusive evidence that the rodent caused the pipe damage and if so how?

    Don't tell them it was mice. Plastic pipe work split, not mice.

    I do know a local plumber but he's a Millwall fan so that would just put a spanner in the works....
