Be nice if we could at least get him to a fans forum for a few anecdotes, get Steve Jones along to sell a few pictures .. ok maybe not the latter part.

What is the Steve Jones joke, i have missed out of interest, as i noticed him mentioned on another thread?

Sadly no joke it would appear.

A number of people allegedly parted with money for items which allegedly never arrived.

Others directly affected may choose to elaborate further.

Real shame if that is true, always liked him.

We've had a lot of dross at the back for us in recent years and I would class Jon as one of the few who really put a shift in and was reliable atk. Will always be remembered fondly after that goal, good luck to him.

Feel sorry for Jonny. Surely e couldn't return again? Can't be any worse than Taylor or Dervite??!!!?

At his best he marked Shearer out of the game.

    Hope he finds something.

Can't turn quickly enough, coupled with the pace of your Granny = the writing on the wall at Pro level.

    Real shame.

Worse than dervit really ? I was thinking of buying a pair of boots & turning up saturday for a game. ...............well if dervite can why not anyone on here ?

  • Smashing player before the injuries took their toll, at his peak looked a very decent premier player IMHO

We were all very keen for Jon to do well for his last comeback with us, but sadly he looked well off the pace then, and it doesn't sound like it's got any better..

I remember Mark Fish trying out for Ipswich under similar circumstances, but after just 45 mins he & they realised the game was up (literally). Some times you just have to accept that you're not fit/good enough.

It's a shame as he was a good premiership defender for a while. Another thing I thought when you spent ten years you were eligible for a testimonial, I dont remember this happening and if not, why not?
  • Really hope he joins Welling or Dartford.

Think he did 9 years then left and subsequently came back. So 10 years plus in total but not consecutive which I think has always been the criterion.

Lisbie was in a similar position when he went if I remember rightly.

Lisbie made his debut in 96 and was still playing for us in 2007 so did enough years, the organising must have got lost somewhere!

Sad what injury can do. Always liked Jon. Surely time to hang up the boots now and make sure that he does no further damage.

Would be a nice touch to get him on The Valley pitch at some point, deserves a proper ovation for his time with us.
