Solly For England?

Yes - But not yet , No question of his ability but based on pure experience he needs a few prem caps to really settle in to the higher standard of football0
-
Not yet , but hopefully one day , under 21's perhaps , don't know who he's up against competition wise?0
-
I thought the rule was if 21 at the start of the season, not entirely sure might be wrong.SuperYann said:0 -
Just hope we sort out a new contract for him pretty sharpish. Then when he does go to a prem club hope we don't get mugged off with the price0

Definitely U21 quality. Not sure if he will ever play for England to be honest. The sort of player you only really appreciate if he is on your side and you're trying to kick every ball from the sidelines.
Fantastic player, but in this day and age you really need to have pace and also even bit of a goal threat to get near the likes of Walker, Richards etc.
His height won't help him either. We all know that doesn't matter but its never going to have the press singing his praises (which is usually what dictates England manager's eyesight)0 -
He can still play for England u21s0

I swear I saw Solly take Zaha out of his back pocket just before he got on the team coach yesterday0
-
Even yannick bolasie accepted that both he and zaha were in chris sollys pocket after a comment someone made to him on twitter about it! Thought it was pretty funny0

must have taken bolasie out before he left the dressing room then0

I wonder if Solly is even on the radar - last season he was League 1. Unfortunately for him he didn't get a move to a higher profile club in the transfer window. I think he's great and I want him to stay with us for years but I think he will get that move and we can't really blame him unless we are serious about a swift return to the Prem...0

Did not seem to be on Wigan or Evertons radar when they were looking last weekSaga Lout said:I wonder if Solly is even on the radar - last season he was League 1. To be honest it was surprising that he was shortlisted for the gb squad at the time due to being a rookie in league one but now that he has more than proved himself in the championship I'm surprised he hasn't been talked up more by the media and co. Not that I'm complaining too much.0

Got a feeling chris will be more of a Chrissy Powell when it comes to England call ups - a few years late as when he's getting on a bit0

The way Solly plays reminds me of Bobby Curtis. Anyone else think that? It's a compliment!0

Let's see him take a penalty or two and then I will tell you!thewolfboy said:The way Solly plays reminds me of Bobby Curtis. Anyone else think that? It's a compliment!

These days, defensive full backs don't tend to be noticed, whereas the ones who bomb forward and show silky touch make the headlines, e.g. Kieran Gibbs who is quite suspect defensively, but has played for England. The modern full back is a Roberto Carlos type rather than a Stuart Pierce or Paulo Maldini...0

Like the Charlton academy days he would be up again Jenkinson.
He must be ont he radar though as he was in that original Olympic squad.0 -

He wont play for England because he is playing in the championship and playing for Charlton.
He is the sort of player you only really appreciate how good he is when you see him week in week out.0 -

Palace colleague was very impressed with him - said he didn't believe he was as good as I had told him, but does now!0

sorry to burst your bubble but he probably wont ever play for Englnd whilst playing for Charlton. CP on;y got picked because Sven knew little about England at the time & genuinly spent a few months watching Prem league games and pick the best lb at the time............once the press had their twopeneth he soon dropped Powell from the team & then the squad.
I remember the late 80's when the best rb in the country was a certain Jonny H - playing in the top divison he consistently had the oppos left mudfielder in his pocket but he never got a sniff at a call-up - even Mel Sterland got called up before him.
Solly will do a Parket - only get recognition once he is playing for another ream..............also helps to be in the Prem.0 -
The problem is, he wil be on quite a few target lists. Will be very hard to keep him and he will be a major loss.0
-
he was quite old by the time he got picked0

Golfie, I though Parker was first capped by England when a Charlton player?golfaddick said:

Powell, Parker, Young, Bent and Konchesky all played for England whilst playing for Charlton. I don't necessarily believe he will never get a look in as long as he plays for Charlton. Admittedly he would never be a regular.0

dont want to see him leave ,but it would be interesting to see him play at a higher level .one things for sure hes the most reliable player we have had for a while .dont really think ive seen him have abad game.0
