Carl Jenkinson

Man city reported to be interested in him, i wonder if there is any selling on fee involved for us as part of the original deal?

Another Gooner going to the Etihad, wonder what their fans will make of that?

I don't understand the negative comments on here sometimes about Carl. Thought he played well against Spurs last Sunday and did not deserved to get subbed. Still very inexperienced and will be a good player. Doubt any of our current crop will play in the PL.

I am amazed how much he has filled out. Saw him with Christian Dailly at the Valley very small unassuming lad. As much as we love Solly, Jenkinson will be the one who will really succeed at the top level. Good player with a bright future, as for sell on clause .. no. He was out of contract and we got more than we could have expected from a tribunal.

not a chance.....not a bad player, but lacks the pace to be a real 'top' full back IMO

    He has loads of pace!

He's the second-fastest Arsenal player behind Walcott. Pace might even be his best attribute!

He just has a weird running-style. Didnt stop Pires before him.
  • Think City can probably aim a bit higher tham him

Jenkinson is tall and has a long stride so may not look pacy but players will have trouble keeping up with him.

He won't leave Arsenal. He has taken his chance well and he loves 'em.

Well in an joint-interview with Ox-Chamberlain, the latter joked how slow Jenko was. So that can't be true. Surely?

How many of their squad are home grown though?

Eh, faster than the Ox? Podolski? Gervinho?

Seems very doubtful to me, I have never seen Jenkinson as a pact defender, always seemed more of a steady Gary Neville type.

I'm sure you're not including Solly in that statement.

i dont know if hes faster than them but pace is definitely not an attribute that will stop him succeeding at the top level

His ordinary ability level will though.

His acceleration isn't the best, but top end speed he's probably the fastest defender Arsenal have

Man City don't need him they have Zabaleta, Richards and Maicon, all of whom are currently better than him.

maicon has lost it, he won't be around.
  • Good luck to him, if he makes the move but i would advise him not to as he can really develop at Arsenal in to a top player and make that RB postion his own.

Not sure why the dislike for him on here by some of our fans, he did not screw us over unless i missed something?

I think some people had the audacity to claim he was better than Solly as he was picked up by Arsenal, whilst Solly is still plying his trade in an average defence of a mediocre team in the championship

and when he gets picked up by a premier league team or we get to the premier league he'll suddenly be a better player, simply because of where he's playing.

He's the fittest player at the club even if he isn't the fastest.

I am actually. Just think no PL will go for him because of his height. Take Everton. Bought Stones from Barnsley for 3m and he is less experienced than Chris and no better but looks the part. Of course if he plays in the PL with us I'd be delighted.

  • He was IMO the second best right back we had however we did not see enough to formulate a fair comment from what I have seen in the prem it's a step too far to soon

Agreed 100%, think that some folks see what they want to see with Jenkinson, looks to be struggling at that level to me.

At a big club like that you have to be a dominant player, really boss your part of the pitch, and to me Jenkinson looks very fragile.
