Should we bring in any more loan players this season?

What are the positives or negatives of bringing in loan players for the remainder of the season?

Positives
- Possible higher league position.
- Take a look at possible permanent signings for next year.
- Adds strength to the squad for the final run in.

Negatives
- We are heading for mid table so what is the point.
- Might deny youth players from getting a game.
- The cost.

If they are potential summer signings then absolutely yes, but if not then there is very little point

If they can help the team put on some home performances then yes. especially before 8th April

If this Gower deal comes off, leave it as that. He would cover the only position I think we really, really need to sort out now, the rest can wait til summer and see what happens.

Agreed. Gower could make a positive impact in central midfield to ensure we get to a safe position quickly, but ok in all other parts of the team.

As above, if they are being trialled with a view to signing full time then yes, if not I'd rather give one or two reserve team players some experience.

My only concern over Gower is that he is 34 (turns 35 in October). On loan fine if short term benefits are gained. But long term is he really the answer?

Only in the one position begging for reinforcements (CM), otherwise we're ok and it wouldn't be worth it.

If next week the gap to the drop gets cut to 5 points and pants are being soiled all over again we'll be grateful for any experienced heads we have around. Signing Gower would be very handy
  • When i read that this morning my first thoughts were scp is going to go for it and have a punt for the play-offs... Can't be any other reason to add another player to the squad this side of the summer break...

Seasons not over so if we can improve the squad then do so.

Gower could be an asset but once we are safe would like to see Fox, Azzez, Cousins et al given some time. Then after one or two sub appearances we can write them off : - )
  • I think mark in the middle and cal down the wing would give us a real good balance

Will wait till he plays a few games but we know he's someone Powell has wanted for ages so not just the last chicken in Sainsbury's situation.

He could always pick a pass so should help the team retain possesion better
  • Let's just hope the board have freed up the dough to let it happen I know that it's not a great deal of dough to get a player like him in

And Swansea injuries don't get worse by Monday or Tuesday

He is desperate for this to come off and really wants to be here as he has since last jan and in the summer

what is the money situation for final placings in the Championship? Do we get more for finishing 10th over 17th? If so, is it a substantial difference?

One loan signing like Gower perhaps, but if we are stuck in mid table, there's no point spending money on expensive loanees that could be used for next season's player budget
