F82M - absolutely. I have stuff to do in the evening and was actually quite glad for the early kick-off. But as I have to go in-and-out of London it would be nice to be able to say to MrsCat 'I'll be home at 6' rather than have to phone her up and say 'I'll be home at 6 because there's been a last minute announcement that my knuckles are too far from the ground to be allowed to get on a train'
If they don't take extra precautions and there is trouble, they will be criticised for not doing enough to prevent it.
If they take measures which are ultimately successful in preventing trouble, people will point to the lack of trouble and claim that the measures taken were unnecessary and excessive, as demonstrated already on this thread.
Would hate to be in their shoes.
Another thing to consider is that there is a risk that there is an element on both sides which may wish to instigate trouble. In this case, there may be good reasons why the police don't want to advertise their plans too far in advance of the match, which would only give the trouble-makers time to work around them.

That's fair enough but you surely eliminate the problem by simply keeping them in after the game. We all know we're a long way from being a West ham, cardiff or Leeds but if the police deem it high risk enough to make it an early kick off and shut pubs and shops then why let them out at the same time to get on the same trains.

I can advise you that the Police meeting for the Millwall game has not yet taken place, so no decisions have been made regarding the post-match operation.
Once we are aware of the details, the club will advise supporters accordingly.

Every other club would go out of their way to inconvenience the away fans for turning up. Seems we're the only club that does it to the home fans instead.

Yep, I'm sure I remember that too. It was a mad dash back to the train station to catch the London train to give me any chance of getting back to Bexleyheath before breakfast time. Happy days.
If anyone went to the 2-1 England in Germany in 08 they locked the Germans in, let the English out with the biggest mile-long robocop escort I have ever seen in my life (there was a riot van end to end every step of the way both sides of the road)... there were then no trains at the station for 10 minutes to take us away and by the time we were in sight of they station they'd let the Germans out anyway!
