Why do we not hold away fans back in for 20 mins after end of game in high risk games?

Can someone remind me when Charlton have kept the home fans in?

People here have mentioned it to be something that only we seem to do, but I don't recall it any time recently?

It will never happen Tom, the old bill and the stewards would have their hands full keeping 3,000 away fans back, thats why they do not do it. Keeping 3 x stands full of home fans back will never happen, if it does there will be all sorts of problems.

Anyway, if we're losing 3-0 with Yann sent off again, half the ground will have left early anyway...

Assuming that most Wall supporters will use the BR station, that, and the road outside it, is a key area of conflict. Against Palace the scuffles occurred in Church Lane, not in Harvey Gardens. Sending Charlton fans through the narrow railway arch will make little difference if the fans meet up again in the queue for the trains.

And seriously inconvenience those of us that park the other side of the station in side roads.

Am I right in thinking the parking is for 2 hours only, no return?
If so, any delays in getting back to the cars could lead to tickets on cars !!!

i'm prettty sure back in the day for our first ever play off match at Ipswich away in 1987 they kept all the Ipswich in at the final whistle can anyone else remember that

Don't know about that but the St Andrews game with Leeds plod kept 16k of them in and let our 1.5k go first.

Fastest I have moved for ages!

If anyone went to the 2-1 England in Germany in 08 they locked the Germans in, let the English out with the biggest mile-long robocop escort I have ever seen in my life (there was a riot van end to end every step of the way both sides of the road)... there were then no trains at the station for 10 minutes to take us away and by the time we were in sight of they station they'd let the Germans out anyway!

    Another tactical masterstroke.

If that was in Berlin (stadium in middle of nowhere and piss coming down from the germans above us) ? I was there.

Not panicking at all Sparrows. Personally I have to be somewhere at 3.30 so could do without having to piss about post-match. We have been kept in before at Palace and Millwall, and sent some ridiculous route at Palace this season. At an away game as the visitors and a minority you can kind of expect / accept it. Not gonna be very happy about being held up and/or herded somewhere I don't wanna go at our own place though.
  • "You're not scary anymore" sang the Charlton fans not so long ago...so why all this panic?

"No one likes us, we don't care"

But why all the fuss every time the media shows you in a bad light?
Brilliant, I wait the Lions awnser?

I don't expect there element will even go to the game, but fully expect them as we come out.In a variety of different places, don't be surprised if they come from both ends of Floyd Rd.

That only leaves The Anchor, Picwick, Rose of Denmark, White Horse, Bugle, and the swan. They will get wrapped up and not allowed to leave the pub then prob escorted and sent away.

I thought only 'wall' used the term 'wall'.
    Ergo...

Police are in a lose lose situation!

Whatever they decide, we stay behind, they stay behind, we walk a long way or whatever...

If trouble is averted and no one is hurt. That's all that matters.

I appreciate people have stuff to do, or want to get home! In the same boat as everyone else!!

Chill out! I'm sure being home slightly later than usual wont be catastrophic!

I know he's your mate Mike.....But a group of grown men going to an opposition team's pub to start drinking at 930AM for a game they're not even going to = The definition of sad.

Poor effort. 5 hours beforehand is the optimal time to get trashed whilst remembering most of the game.

Seriously, nothing of any magnitude will occur on Saturday. And if there is anything above a few scuffles or petty damage (eg. wing mirrors, not shop windows) that's pretty pathetic for a game in December that no one outside SE London heard about. And a club and whose fans they allegedly don't care about.

I make you right Tom, I am not condoning it, I could sit here all night telling stories of what he has got up too at away games, however he has been a good friend, our kids grew up together and you have to put some of it aside sometimes.

pmsl ......back in the day maybe you'd get in the home teams pub early on & go with what happens but a group of old men sitting in a pub that the landlord has opened especially for them & presumably isn't open to the general public goes beyond sad its fucking laughable. You can just imagine them sitting behind locked doors, "ere 'arry (the dog) them farking charton caants ain't shown again, thats another farking result" or more likely they'll be sitting in a pub in Bermondsey watching the scores on sky
