Linking the fact he is out of contract and a former Reading great together...0
-
Parkinson is currently the lowest paid manager in League Two, thought to be earning just £50,000-a-year.

Sigh
He must be like the only somewhat reasonably paid manager atm0 -
Think Bradford have offered him a new contract haven't they?0
-
Well as i live only 11 miles from Reading and have a few mates who support them and think he is a "Reading legend" often said to me that they lost respect for Charlton when they sacked him, I used to ask them would they swap him for Mcdermitt, well i hope he joins them and see what a great manger he isnt.0
-
Hope he joins them and does really well.
Great guy.0 -
Hope he gets it
Will do well with them in championship
Top bloke deserves big break0 -
Sometimes football defies logic.
Sack a bloke who got you into the premiership on a shoe string and replace him with someone who is struggling to win the second division with one of the biggest clubs. LOL0 -
Hope he gets it and does well.0

The only way he would get Reading out the Championship would be by taking them down to League 1!floydroadfaithfull said:Hope he gets it

Biggest club of league 2?
I don't think so0 -

OK below is a list of the second division clubs in their current order, please point out the ones which are bigger clubs than Bradford. (This should be good, I'm waiting)floydroadfaithfull said:Biggest club of league 2?
I don't think so
Gillingham , Burton Albion's, Port Vale, Northampton, Rotherham, Cheltenham's , Exeter, Fleetwood, Oxford Utd, Southend, Bradford, Chesterfield, Morecambe, Wycombe, Bristol Rovers, Dag & Red, Rochdale, Wimbledon, York , Barnet, Aldershot, Torquay , Plymouth , Accrington0 -
Can't see him getting it. A big difference between being linked and genuine interest. Surely he doesn't have the experience they need. Mind you, stranger things have happened.0
-
What record does he have to say he will get them up
Dooomed appointment0 -
Parkie deserves to move up a league or two but I doubt it will be Reading, it would be a half sensible decision, but getting rid of McDermott was a stupid decision, so expect an unknown foreign manager0
-
If he gets the job I can see a lot of crap loan players joining Reading next year.0
-
Francis and McCormack they will be cheap.0
-
Won't happen but would be hilarious.
Managing 30 odd staff, taking abuse in the news on tv and countless Internet forums, working a high pressure 80 hour week with endless travel.MattD said:Parkinson is currently the lowest paid manager in League Two, thought to be earning just £50,000-a-year.

He is a legend there but not sure the Russian owner would want to go down to league 2 for his manager.0
-
50k a year would explain why he got our job full time and kept it for so long. Aren't Reading still in the PL? Why would they sack McD for someone with no credentials?
Being a nice bloke does not make you a PL level manager, especially when Adkins is available. My advice to Phil would be take the pay rise and spend the next few years on the project to get Bradford out of the bottom division which is "work in progress". If he did go to Reading he'd soon end up unemployed.0 -
I can't see PP getting the Reading job. It'll go to a foreigner, perhaps with some Prem/FL experience, or to a British manager who is in between jobs; an Adkins type0

They're relegated. Mcdermott was much more likely to get promoted. Adkins would be a fool to take it, should take cardiff/leicester a club who failed to go up but are ambitious and willing to over spend in the prem. I honestly can't see any capable manager taking it: bit like wolves last season. They can only go for a champ manager or below. Someone like Saunders before he took wolves: Unless they go for trap door Dowie.0
