Trip to Syria

Hi All.
I'm planning a work trip over to Syria in about 8 weeks for 3 weeks and will probably be visiting refugee camps as well as the main urban centers. I was considering taking an extra bag with donated old kids Charlton shirts and balls to give out along the way.
Are there any objections from the Charlton faithful? Anyone to help organise collection? I will be attending a briefing in London in the next couple of weeks so can pick up shirts then.
Thought about doing this before in Gaza but got involved in a thread where i got some big digs for my opinions so cancelled that.
I travel to a lot of hot spots and would like to consider doing this in other places also (Congo and Chad in June) with a view to making a short film or documentary on bringing football to conflict zones. Is there a consensus that this would be a good or bad image of Charlton shirts.

    Good luck Scidbox; can't really see any reasonable grounds for objection. Away from the trouble it's a beautiful country but I guess you'll need to tread very carefully for now (sounds as though you've done your research already).

    I've git old kit from a defunct Sunday league team if any good as well? Were going to Freepost Kit Aid but not sure they are still going.

    Bloody fantastic effort mate, keep us informed. You'd think no poor bastard would want to don the Charlton red but I gave an old home shirt to a young lad in a school in Peru and he's been wearing it in every picture I've ever seen since. Great to see when you're back home the other side of the world.

    Hi All. It's a go then. I am looking for any condition any size kids shirts and balls donations from Lifers so if someone could volunteer as a collection point as i am based in Dublin it would be a great help and if you could get the word out to others for donations.

    re balls...have you thought of trying somewhere like Goals? They would have plenty of spares which they probably don't use after a few weeks and must do something with them. I have an arrangement with a 5 a side place near work for similar and they supply loads of left behind kit/balls.

    I have a load of old football shirts from when i was a kid as used to collect them. Was gonna keep them for my future kids but this is far more worthy. Sod the politics of every conflict the children are completely innocent in it all.

    Is it only God's own Charlton shirts you are after or other ones as well?

    Fair play to people like you mate. With all the depressing stuff in the news all the time it is good to have faith in humanity restored with things like this.
