    I went through a bag of old programmes last week and found the first 5 or 6 VOTV issues and more inportantly a pristine sheet of Boycott the Oxford Game stickers. I might start stickering again.

    Just over half way through, was pleased to see that our toilet roll at Peterborough got a mention as being immature (ha!).

    I liked Steve Dixon's article about us belonging in the second tier. That I hold very true, and prefer our current situation to paying £55 for an away ticket and considering a 2-0 loss as 'good'. From 1997/98 we were spoiled for many years, and a lot of people forget that. There are also a lot of more than worthy opponents in this division with the likes of Forest, Leeds, Leicester, etc.

    Football works in swings and roundabouts, we'll end up top tier again whether it's in 2 or 20 years but for the moment we should make the most of it. Although admittedly I'd prefer that Yeovil don't get promoted.

    I've not read it yet, so I hope I'm not wasting my time with this comment. However, I must say that I agree with the gist of your post but I would go further. I would be, relatively, happy in the third division (even though I don't want it) if we knew that the club could be self financing there. The second division is, probably, where we 'belong' but I don't want to stay here if we are going to continue to lose so much money that the club faces administration, or worse.

    Very good article by Dicko, I thought, although the flaw is we can't break even at this level, as you say. For what it's worth I think the financial gap is probably smaller in the Championship if you don't go all out for promotion. I am not sure I could take too much more of League One football but more to the point I think if we had stayed there the finances would have deteriorated further because of declining crowds.

    Yes it was. I've read it now and I completely agree with his sentiments. I remember Richard Murray saying a few years ago that the club could break even in the Championship. The new FFP rules that the FL have introduced might help and if so then, even though I would want us to aspire to promotion, I wouldn't be critical of the board if we didn't go up.

    There's hardly anyone in the Championship at the moment who are breaking even, which is pathetic when the consider the crowds clubs are getting - isn't this league the 4th most attended in Europe or something? Back in the 90s we would have dreamed about averaging crowds of 17-18000, thinking back to the excellent campaigns like Target 10000 etc

    Hopefully FFP will do something about this, though it's only a start.

    Is it possible the mag is detracting from matchday programme sales ?

    no / don't know / don't care / hope so

    The sellers that I saw on Saturday put up pitch close to the established programme stands near the tunnell.

    Also, can anyone just sell stuff from the street or does it need a licence etc ?

    You may well find that the programme sellers outside the ground don't have licences themselves.

    Technically you should have a Street Trading Licence or something similar.
