17 of us Charlton fans are spending the weekend in Newcastle for a Stag do for a member of the Rose of Denmark (ROD). Getting the train down to Boro on the Saturday and returning to Newcastle that evening. Really looking forward to it, never been to the Riverside before. Any other CAFC doing the weekend who would like to meet up?

Me n son coming up from Norwich n staying in the Boro..0

Nine of us going up there but suspect a much smaller number will make the game as the rest will stay in Hogans (if it's still there?).
Coming straight home afterwards though-looking like we're in a minority!0 -

Depending on what happens Saturday and Mrs AUN first outing to a Charlton game will decide what I'll do for Boro. If she gets Charltonised and wants to go to the Riverside I'll travel back via Whitby to get some chips and mushy peas. Nice drive over the Moors home. Very civilised.0

A mate of mine from work is a Boro fan, so we may go up together. We went to the Riverside in March 2003 and watched a 1-1 draw. Didn't see much of the town, as we got off at Darlington and his uncle drove us to a nice country pub (frequented by Fabrizio Ravenelli allegedly ). We then drove on to the uncle's village, from where we got a 20 seater bus to and from the game. As a result, we did not sample the delights of the town and it was all disturbingly pleasant.
If we go, we'll have lunch in the ground and get tickets on the halfway line. It has all the makings of a meaningless end of season encounter but we would certainly have settled for that at 3.20 on 30 March.
Trains expensive, mind - £95 quid return on the 8 o'clock from King's Cross.0 -
*Shudder* I'll never forget how pristine clean Mark Schwarzer's all white kit was at the end of that game. One of the very rare occasions I've been truly embarrassed by a Charlton performance.I-SAW-POUSO-PLAY said:Still having nightmares about the December 2006 trip. 5-4-1 formation.

I'm going up with davejrich. Going Friday morning, coming back Sunday. Staying near Tyne Bridge.
Any suggestions on great boozers? Pretty sure there will be loads...anywhere to avoid?0 -
You will love it ! Went up there with a few mates a couple of weeks ago, and stayed in a travelodge in Gateshead. Went out both friday and saturday, for any clubbers you must go to Digital on a saturday its unbelievable, they've got 3 floors of different genres of music. Its only a 2 minute walk from St James park.
Make sure you listen hard thoe like, they've got an accent which is hard to understand !
