That article is too long and dull. Can anyone summarise it in a couple of sentences?

The most boring game in Charltons history, I was so pleased when they scored, so I did not have to sit through extra time

Wouldn't we have gone out of business if it wasn't for Blackburn agreeing to rearrange a match with us - around '83 '84 ish?

  • If they go down will it now be called 'doing a blackburn'?

    These two paragraphs show how dire the situation there is there;

"Now, less than three years on, Rovers are perilously close to dropping into League One, with reserve team boss Gary Bowyer in his second spell in caretaker charge this season and the club's fifth manager of the campaign.

Rovers have signed 21 players since the summer, including spending £8m on Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield and £3m on Leon Best from Newcastle. The club are paying some of their top earners more than £30,000 a week."

That made me laugh! Nice one.
  • They have had a joke of a season, going through managers like confetti, I think they even had Michael Appleton as there manager at one point.

I guess we had a mare in the Prem , and when you lose it, it's hard to get back.

Would they be where they are now if they'd stuck with Steve Keen?

I know the fans hated him, but they seem to be in freefall at the moment.

I don't feel sorry for there fans. In fact, I hope they and Wolves go down. I think Wolves are boring and Blackburn are just a joke. In hindsight, they shouldve stuck with Keen but that was never going to happen. Their fans haven't helped much. They've been booing from the start of the season. That doesn't help...

Also I like Huddersfield and Peterborough.

Spot on. The constant booing is hardly going to motivate new players to want to perform, rather think "what the feck have I done moving here!".

Blackburn gates have been massively affected this season as Fans have voted with their feet in an effort to get Venkys out.
It remains to be seen if they will cut their losses and walk away.

Blackburn have always had a mediocre support. The whole Venkys circus just distracts everyone from the fact that their attendance was always massively puffed up when they were doing well. Hope they do go down, won't be missed.

  • An absolute circus of a club.
To think I "bought" their points total in one of the prediction threads at the start of the season. Think I "sold" wolves though.

Blackburn are doing a Burnley, i.e. a kamikaze nosedive thru the divisions .. a nice, viable local club taken over by know nothing foreigners who have totally f***ed things up

Thing is their attendances were even rubbish when they won the premiership. They couldn't sell out when they won the league, averages 21k that season. Says all you need to know, we've had significantly higher attendances in the championship than they achieved in their most successful season in living memory.

I think it is a bit like us when we went down. When you are in that amount of trouble and disharmony, you have to sink to the bottom before you can start rising again. The big question is where is Blackburn’s bottom?

The only thing I can tell you is that, wherever it may be, Shebby Singh and Venkys couldn't find it with a map and compass.

  • They are absolutely f*cked if they go down as you can't even look at them and think they'll bounce back up.

Rhodes would surely be sold, and they'd have to lose all the high earners. Could well end up doing a Bradford playing in front of 10k in league 2 in a couple of years time.

From our perspective Blackburn and Wolves going down with their parachute money would be a real result.

I still think both will wriggle out of it though sadly!

They must have their ground being built during that season?

We'll soon find out. We already know their top!

Problem is you can only get rid of the high earners if someone is willing to match whatever ridiculous salary that their on.

What will more likely happen is that medium/lower level earners will go leaving a smallish squad with one or two big earners who think they are too good for the division and a bunch of kids/past it's who are only there because Blackburn can't afford anyone else.

They'll get about £5m for Rhodes I reckon, sounds good but it's still a 40% loss on an asset over 12 months which is appalling.
