If my memory serves me correct this beats our previous 6-1 record away win at Luton in the 1960's when Dennis (Daisy) Edwards scored a hat-trick. Also I wonder if there have been 6 different scorers in any game home or away throughout Charlton's history?

What is our home record win?
  • Think that it was 8-1 against Middlesborough and our record away defeat 11-1 at Villa.

Best ever league away win and the first time six different scorers have scored in a league game.

You wait over 35 years for one all-time record to come along, and blimmin TWO come at once.

And a couple last year..! Chrissy Powell - Thank you.
  • Ashfordaddicted - you must be the same age as me. I remember all 3 games, in fact I was at all of them. Thought my facts were right ( not sure at my age ), but you corroborated them.
  • First went to the Valley 60 years ago in match v Blackpool and celebrated that event to the day on 23rd February, this year v Notts Forest which was one of the worst performances i can ever remember.

Will there be any records left by the time CP has finished his work?

    Just the ones nobody wants.

  • Defeats away to Dagenham and Stevenage seem a long way away right now, today's result goes a long way from getting rid of that 6-1 mauling at the Valley by Leeds a few years back.

Barnsley's form in the division was very strong - what were the odds on this result?
  • 300-1 Muttley with the bookie at the ground.

Oh what the late great Colin Cameron would have made of such a result?!!
  • Clearly that scp has no respect for the traditions of the club busting all these records...

5-0 and any higher score was 500-1 with Paddy Power.

I was thinking that myself, he would have loved it!

I'd begun to think, years ago in fact, that the record victories would never be supassed (Actually, whats our record score in the league cup ...1-0?) as there's a tendency it seems in modern footie to ease off before things get embarrassing for the opposition.

There was a period in the autumn last season when we were running up some big scores I thought something ridiculous might happen, but it didn't.... as for yesterday I thought as Barnsley had won a load of home games, by the law of averages we would get a point or nick something. However, if anyone predicted what happened, can they send some lottery numbers?

I can't remember our record victory in the League Cup as in all honesty this is a competition in which we have never excelled. The best that I can recall is 4-1 against Carlisle at the Valley, a 4-4 draw at Leicester when we were 4-0 down at halftime and our opponents were top of the old 1st Division and losing 7-1 to Mancester United at Old Trafford after taking the lead in the first minute.
