Addicks on Sky

Am I right in thinking that by the time the new season kicks off, Charlton would have had just one league game televised live in nineteen months?

Someone posted a Championship TV appearance table on twitter the other day and only us and someone else (Barnsley i think) have appeared 1 time this season.

there has been a big northern bias this season - Us, millwall & Palace have probably featured live less than 6 times between us, wherea the likes of Sheff Wed, Leicester & Leeds have appeared around 6 times EACH.

    That is utter garbage.

I feel sorry for anyone that's had to watch Wolves SEVEN times this season.

However you are supposed to get at least 4 televised games a season, Millwall at home, Forest Away and Cardiff Away have all been on TV, but they have been on Singapore SportsVision or Al-Jazeera Sport Channel 39 or some such shit.

But don't worry, they'll be forced to televise us when we're storming the league ;-)

Was about to say fair enough, we've not been in the promotion mix all season, but seeing that table is ridiculous !

they seem to love coming to the valley (must be cheaper or something) but odd as biggest audience for us is more likely our away games? So since our home form was toss, I guess that's why - Prague you gonna get on the case mate?

The lack of television coverage shows how the media and wider world percieve Charlton. They hardly know we exist,we are not a glamorous team and this is why it is difficult to get buyers with money to take a chance on the club.

Last time we kicked up a fuss we had the justification that our games brought in comparable ratings to even the big guns. That's probably not true any more!

indeed given they didn't even bother with home games, might be worth a pop tho.. :) surely we must be comparable for championship clubs who are getting far more coverage?

They seem to like derbies and for some reason not between us and the Spanners.

I was always confused why every season in League One our away game at Brisbane Road always got shown. In the first season down I would have thought out first competitive visit to the Toolbox in thirteen years would be more interesting to a neutral.

Next season might be better with QPR and possibly Brentford adding to the choice of London games.

It's a pity that we haven't featured more on TV but at the end of the day it's how many points we have on the board that really matters.

That list of teams covered makes no sense, and it's not just us. Ipswich once, Bolton twice, yet Wolves another relegated PL team 7 times!

I'm sure the neutrals really enjoyed seeing Leicester 10 times, but Brighton only 4 times...

I thought you were paid if your game was broadcast - so as above, four of our games were broadcast and therefore we received the fee. However as only one of these games was broadcast in the UK our kick off time wasn't moved to something ridiculous and we didn't take the hit on gate numbers, perfect scenario surely ?
